Fairly entertaining episode. The Victorias Secret plug was pretty shameless, but also amusing. Episodes without the extraneous characters (Doris, Catherine) just flow better - it's more of the old rhythm and dynamic that worked so well, and nothing feels forced. Although, I do find it odd that they start a story and then forget about it for a few episodes (are we done seeing Mary and Doris rebuild their relationship?).

Totally agree...I really enjoyed the crime story - fun to see someone getting the best of McGarret and rattling his cage. But of course, we all knew he'd win in the end! The Doris/Catherine storyline was ridiculous. Catherine should not be getting her own storylines separate from Steve and/or the team...she's not that big of a character. And the scene where she scaled the hotel balcony was almost laughable. I don't get why they can't just have her be Steve's love interest and leave it at that. And I wish they'd focus more on Doris' relationships with Steve/Mary and less on her spy stuff. I think they're wasting some potentially good character development storylines there.

I like this episode. I thought it highlighted the core team and the crime drama, while still showcasing the other characters as secondary story lines to keep things interesting. I found it a nice change that Catherine wasn't forced in if she wasn't needed. One thing that did confuse me a bit was Mary's "daddy's girl" scene at the grave site. In her first appearance on the show (in Season 1), she has a scene with Steve where she talks about resentment for the Dad because she and steve were invisible to him - he never showed them any emotion or attention. She didn't even attend his funeral. I realize that doesn't mean she didn't love her Dad, but it seemed like another instance of the character/story line inconsistencies. All in all, good ep.
