  • Smallville Spoilers for Season 10: Goodbye, Chloe; Hello, Super Suit! (9/15/2010)

I am thrilled for the new and final season. 10 is quite fitting. It is so hard, after years of developing a fondness for characters ~ to watch them go. While the brilliant and creative writers have undoubtedly put together a beautiful and deserving storyline for Chloe's departure, it will hurt and feel unfair just the same. I believe that for many, if not all, fans ~ Chloe is the character we can all relate to the most ~ the underdog, the one you root for, the most down to earth and understandable character. Unlike the entire character list of Smallville, Chloe is believable. She is not extraordinary ~ she stands in the shadows of larger than life, powerful, and even somewhat ridiculously beautiful friends. Chloe is the most "human" character on Smallville ~ and to me, that makes her the most beautiful. I am not sure Season 10 will offer such a person for the fans to be able to relate to in every episode. But maybe that is the point. As we all know ~ Clark soon embraces his destiny ~ cutting much of his ties to humanity in order to do so. I imagine this season will be the darkest ever, and much of it sad. With that being said, I could not imagine anyone other than Allison Mack portraying such a wonderfully imperfect character ~ one who even the oldest and truest Superman fan grew to accept and love ~ even though she is not an original part of Superman history. But she certainly is now!
