  Barf. How can people get excited about Chair? Their dialogue is so hollow and ridiculous. Cheesy gambling puns? Dead eyes? This is anything but epic.

  Admitting to rewatching the pilot just proves how completely useless these writers are. They're basically admitting you could tune in to GG for the first time at season 6, and you'd be at the exact same place as if you're watching season 1. Why are they touting this like it's a good thing? It's a complete breakdown in competent story-telling. They basically just hit the reset button because they didn't have the balls to take the show somewhere new. You'd think, since the show is at a definite end, they'd prefer to go out with some dignity. But none of the characters will, and therefore neither will they. Blair's grovelling for Chuck's affections, Chuck's got materialistic power issues, Dan is unrecognizable from himself all of two episodes ago, and Serena is a trainwreck. What a joke.

This reviewer spelled it out so well: [Blair's choice] makes being devastated desirable, rather than “strong and safe.” Safety becomes a bad thing, strength becomes a given, much better to be shattered by someone who has done nothing but manipulate you. A Divergent quotation comes to mind: “even though he saved me, he treated me like I was strong.” But in the case of the UES, damsel or strong woman are the only two options and by golly, why would you sacrifice the opportunity to be devastated?
