Confession: We weren't too upset about "The Vampire Diaries" going on hiatus for the holiday season. This season has been so fast-paced (read: awesome) that we needed a breather to collect our thoughts! That relief lasted about five minutes before we started getting antsy for more Mystic Falls. There's still a month left before "TVD" returns to our screens at 8 p.m. on January 5, but our withdrawal symptoms were flaring up, so we thought it was about time to check in with executive producer Julie Plec. Julie gave Zap2it a ring from Atlanta where the cast was hard at work on episode 314. Looking back on some of the things we've loved about Season 3, Elena's (Nina Dobrev) evolution is high on our list. In the first episode, we found her having spent a summer pining for Stefan (Paul Wesley). As the season soldiered on, however, she finally emerged from her cloud of denial. Finally, she put her foot down and gave Stefan an ultimatum."She said to him back in Episode 7 that she can't love a ghost for the rest of her life. She said, 'Get it together or you will lose me.' She threw down," Julie says. "She gave him a chance to let his humanity come through and break through, and he didn't, in her eyes. She has to move forward."In the mid-season finale, Elena finally decided to let Stefan go -- and yes, she meant it. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) on the other hand is having a little trouble coping with the apparent loss of his little bro. "When we come back from hiatus, Damon is doing what Damon does best when someone pisses him off: He's day-drinking," Julie laughs. "He's seen neither hide nor hair of Stefan since he ruined their plan and got his freedom from Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and Damon and Elena are kind of spiraling a little bit. They don't know where he is or why he betrayed them. All they know is that he has completely screwed them over and they have to move on."And move on they do, albeit "under a cloak of fear and paranoia," Plec says, because as usual, they're waiting for the other shoe to drop as Klaus seeks his revenge on them for the whole Papa Original debacle. Terror reigns in Mystic Falls, but that doesn't mean that there's no room for romance amidst the madness."When we come back in Episode 10, Elena and Damon are finding themselves in these moments where the romantic tension is a little bit deeper and the physical tension is a little bit hotter," Julie teases. (We know what you're thinking. Hotter? How is that even possible? Trust us... it is.)Though Stefan is out of the picture, Damon and Elena continue to spend time together. "They have to work together against Klaus, so they keep finding themselves in these moments that they're now both free to act on, without guilt."Of course, Stefan never stays gone for long. At some point, it will be revealed that his big "betrayal" at Homecoming was for Damon's benefit. "Eventually, somebody is going to found out that Stefan saved Damon's life, and Damon and Elena are going to have that to contend with," Julie says. "They're going to have some choices to make."Though we're antsy for Damon and Elena to move forward (there are only so many almost-kisses the audience can handle) there's no denying that Stefan's evolution has been one of the most intriguing parts of Season 3.Julie agrees. "For me, the biggest pleasure of the season -- which I won't say is totally a surprise because theoretically we knew that he had this in him -- is watching Paul Wesley do what he's done. It's been kind of thrilling," she says. "I love me some Paul! I think he's a wonderful actor, and to really see him get to explode on screen has been so exciting and so intense and emotional. I'm really proud of him. I'm proud of the show, in a way, because that storyline really worked the way that we wanted it work."Now that Stefan is free of Klaus's compulsion, we'll continue to see that bad-ass Ripper we've come to love watching on screen. And by "love," we also kind of mean "hate," because as magnificent as Paul is in the role, it breaks our heart to see Stefan as icy cold as he's been in the last few episodes. "It's awful! I think what's so great about it is watching him be both completely, horrifically detached, but also those moments where you kind of get the glimpse of something pure under there," Julie says. "They're little moments, and they're so rare and so hidden, so it's very much a testament to him as an actor and to what he's putting into the character, because that's not something that you can necessarily write."Klaus's reactions to the changes in Stefan drove their relationship in the first half of the season. Now that Stefan has turned on Klaus -- which Klaus wasn't expecting when he freed Stefan -- we're going to see an epic clash."We have not seen the worst of Klaus. We also have not seen the worst of Stefan taking on Klaus," Julie tells us. "One of the fun things we're doing when we come back in January is taking the pissing contest -- I guess that's the best term for it -- between Stefan and Klaus to a whole other level. Watching these powerful characters and these powerful actors go head-to-head is going to be awesome."Stefan isn't used to being the antagonist, and as he seeks rage-fueled revenge on Klaus, he'll discover that Klaus may be even more manipulative than he'd thought. In fact, Klaus sets a plan in motion to turn Mystic Falls itself against Stefan, ripping his home away from him the way that Stefan has hijacked Klaus's family."There's a moment where Damon's at a cocktail party and sees Mayor Lockwood chatting with Klaus, and Damon's like 'What the hell are you doing? He's ruined your son's life, he's ruined all of our lives,'" Julie says. "[Mayor Lockwood] says, 'Klaus has offered to leave me, my family, and this town alone if you can get your brother to behave.' So we start to see this manipulation that Klaus has in the town of Mystic Falls, and now that Stefan's pushing back, Klaus is able to step forward and say, 'Hey, I'm not here to cause a problem! Stefan Salvatore is the problem.'"We. Can't. Wait.
I'm dying to see the coming episodes...especially seeing that Delena news. Here's link:
It's a little squished though, I didn't know that would happen when I posted, darn.
Here is my Chapter 2. "Wake Up Call"
*2 Nights Ago*Dante: "Why don't you just tell me where it is, or I rip your pathetic little heart out." man: "I'm telling you man, I've no idea where it is." The man's pale face grew even paler in the moonlit night as he knelt to the ground, he sat there grabbing his own throat, as though someone was forcing him to choke the life out of himself. Before the feeble young man, stood a tall and scary man, who concentrated easily, forcing the man to cause himself pain.Dante: "I Suggest you tell me where that staff is...I can easily strangle you even more and kill you right here." His eyes shown almost black in the darkness, the victim grew still as if in thought.man: "Okay, okay...a friend of mine might know where it is, he's a huge history buff." He began choking even harder on his words as Dante's magical grip tightened even more, his impatience showing even clearer as he got closer to the man on the ground, demanding more answers. Dante: "WHO?!?" the man's voice could be heard clear across the countryside, drawing two wandering eyes to the scene. The grip lessened so that the victim could speak quickly and easily. man: "H-h-he's in Mystic Falls. His name is..." In an instant a shot was fired and the man on the ground laid there, dead. Dante's anger rose as he felt himself getting even more furious, the information he was so close to receiving, dropped dead with the body lying in the green grass. He looked toward the sound and could see a woman, wielding a gun, her hair a light blonde...her countenance showed that of a woman who's earned the respect and trust of her own peers. Standing across the park from where she stood, was Dante and as he moved closer and closer to her, she began to fire her gun several times before realizing that he wasn't even getting hurt. He laughed as her attempts to kill him were getting more and more pathetic, within seconds her gun was flung from her hands, the shock in her face became more prominent, even in the dark. Sheriff Forbes: "Are you a vampire?" Dante smiled at the ignorance of the question and as he magically slammed her body to the ground, he replied, Dante: "Now what makes you say that?" He then grabbed a metal rod from nearby and jammed it in her chest. The woman's eyes grew dark as her life left her body, her last thought on her own daughter.Caroline: "Thanks Elena, I know I shouldn't worry about my relationship with Tyler but he makes things so difficult sometimes." Caroline walked towards her vehicle, holding a cell phone in her hand...Elena's voice, on the other line.Elena: "Well, I'm glad I could help...I'm going through some things with Stefan. Caroline? Caroline, are you there?" Elena heard quiet whimperings of a seemingly distraught Caroline. Caroline, still with the phone to her ear, walked towards a body hanging on the wall of a building, her face familiar, more familiar then anyone else in Caroline's life. Caroline: "Mom!" Caroline rushed toward the body and pulled it down from the wall, she held her mother in her arms and cried hysterically on the phone...Elena: "Caroline, what's wrong?" Caroline began explaining on the phone, the scene before her eyes and as Caroline cried as she spoke, Elena began crying, as if it was Caroline's pain that she was feeling as well. *Present Day*The alarm clock rung at 8:00 a.m, Elena got up from bed and sullenly got dressed for day. Her black dress was fitting for the day's arrangement...how could this happen? I can't believe Sheriff Forbes is dead? How will Caroline handle all of this? These thoughts filled Elena's mind as she walked slowly down the stairs of the Salvatore house. Stefan to Elena: "Hey, how you doing?" Stefan and Damon awaited in the living area, both seemingly concerned with how Elena was handling this. She tried not to show how upset she was but even when she kissed Stefan's lips that morning, he could tell that she was clearly upset. Elena: "I'll be okay, so much has happened in this town that I'm just trying to get by...I need to be strong for Caroline." Stefan hugged Elena and stroked her hair, knowing that she had to give a speech at the funeral, despite her nerves. Damon kept joking about her having to give a nervous speech in front of loads of grieving people, but despite Damon's efforts of cheering her up, she only scolded him for the rude remarks, Damon gave her an apologetic look and as Stefan and Elena walked out the door, he soon followed. The Forbes house was full of sad and anxious people, most of whom consisted of Mayor Lockwood, the council and pretty much anyone who wished to attend. Caroline sat in her room, alone, as she tried her hardest to avoid awkward hugs and sad people. *knock* she reluctantly told the person to come in, seeing it was Tyler, made her all the more nervous and upset.Tyler: "Hey Caroline, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss." Caroline gave a tiny smile and refrained from eye contact."Look, can't we just talk about the other night."Caroline couldn't believe what she was hearing, her "boyfriend" coming to talk about their relationship at her own mother's funeral. Caroline: "You've got to be kidding me..." Tyler, not fully understanding her reasons for anger, quickly left her room with a disappointed expression. Quickly she pulled herself together and followed after him, calling his name.Caroline: "Tyler, Tyler. Wait." As soon as she caught up with him, he turned to face her, awaiting an explanation but when all she could say were excuses for her behavior, he decided to speak up first.Tyler: "Look Caroline, I don't know what it is that's wrong with you but you've been irritable and distant and just different. And "don't" say it's because your mom died because you and I both know that it's been going on for a while. So what is it?" Caroline still wasn't sure, all she knew was that she was feeling different and it's been driving other people away. Her emotions were even more out of control and for once it worried even her, still unable to give a reasonable answer, Tyler just continued to look disappointed, "Whatever, Caroline. Tell me when your over...whatever this is." He walked over to a group of chairs and sat down, next to Matt, who tried to ignore the fact that he was sitting next to the one guy who Caroline chose over him. Caroline wiped her eyes and went into the same room, her eyes focused on the front of the room, where her mother lied in a mahogany coffin, cherry blossoms laid perfectly on its glazed shell. Caroline wasn't entirely sure this was real, how could she be sitting at her own mom's funeral? How could this be reality? But everytime she would shut her eyes and reopen, the nightmare would continue. Elena sat still, nervous, half-wondering why she was going to give a speech in the first place...seemed like something Caroline should do, but she tried not to allow herself to blame Caroline for not wanting to do it.Jeremy: *walking towards Elena* Elena seen him coming towards her with a worried expression and curiously listened as he approached her.Jeremy: "Hey Elena, have you seen Bonnie? She told me she was coming, she should've been here by now."Elena: "No, I haven't." She began thinking to herself, about what she and Damon had found at Grove Hill Mansion. If Dante is coming for her, she's not safe...but, she hoped that it was nothing serious.Jeremy thought the same thing, but came to the conclusion that it was probably nothing. He sat down next to Alaric, his phone still in his hand.Stefan to Elena: "Is everything okay?"Elena: "Yeah, it'll be fine" She glanced over at Damon, who had heard the whole conversation with great interest and she gave him an "I can't do this" look. She got up to give her speech in front of the crowd, she stood there staring at all the grief-stricken faces."Liz Forbes was a good friend of mine, she believed in protecting and preserving this town and its people, and-" Her focus was interrupted by the sudden leave of Jeremy, who had gotten a phone call...she looked at Damon, who saw the same thing and he got up to follow after him. Elena tried to continue with her speech. "And though she's gone, she would want us all to work together to do the same..."Damon and Jeremy stood outside the house, Jeremy's ear stuck to the phone as he thought that it was Bonnie.Jeremy: "Bonnie, Bonnie are you there?" He looked at Damon who motioned for the phone and Jeremy responded by handing it to him.Damon: "Hello?"Dante: "Just the man I wanted to talk to. I'd like to thank you for revealing to me, the witch I needed."Damon: "What are you talking about?"Dante: *Walked over to Bonnie, who lied on the floor with her hands bound and body beaten and scarred* He then put the phone to her ear and as two men began to use magic to harm her, she screamed into the phone...her pain was undeniable and Damon couldn't help but feel that this was part of his fault, a part he needed to fix.Damon: "Where is she" Dante smiled at the question, knowing that playing a game would be alot more fun.Dante: "Now, why would I tell you that? I need her in the near future and she's not going anywhere. You could try to find her but you'll die in the process." The phone went dead almost instantly as the call was ended.Stefan and Elena came outside, apparently finished with her speech, both worried by Damon and Jeremy's faces.Elena: "What is it, what's wrong?"Damon looked at her with eyes that could only sympathize and hope for better news to give but he knew he had to tell her, he needed to.Damon: "It's Bonnie...Dante has her."The shock was instant on their faces and it seemed to grow with each second, Elena felt so guilty, Bonnie getting caught was all her fault. She knew she had to find some way to rescue her, she had to figure out how to stop this man who's responsible for the funeral they were at now. She saw in Damon's eyes, real sympathy, she saw an apology begin to surface from his lips...but she insisted that none of this was his fault, that they will find her and they will put an end to Dante.
