You'd hit it right?" In the year 2013, Dr. Cassandra Railly discusses outbreaks at a conference. Little does she realize she's about to meet Cole, who shares his own story of plague. The time traveler soon kidnaps Cassie and lists her medical accomplishments. What rattles her is the fact he lists viral containment for the CDC in 2015. That's two years in the future, it's only 2013. Cole begins to explain his mission. "About 4 years from now, most of the human race is gonna be wiped out by a plague; a virus. All we know is that it's because of a man named Leyland Frost." He's been tapped to locate and kill this man, rewriting history and setting things right. You can't blame Cassie for doubting this wild story. However, Cole presents her with a duplicate of her watch from his time. He scratches the glass with a switchblade and Cassie's watch is soon scratched too. The police soon catch up with them, wounding Cole but not before he asks Cassie to meet him in 2 years in Philly. He then vanishes right in front of her eyes. Needless to say, she believed him and waited for Cole to appear at that hotel in 2015. When he finally makes his way through the hotel lobby, Cassie notices he is still sporting the gunshot wound. Once Cole is realizes Cassie believes him, he tells her the story of the pandemic. In 2017 the plague claimed 7 billion lives, but he was one of the rare few immune survivors. He tells Cassie she died in his time, but she was able to send a message and mentioned him by name. "You gave me this mission. You're the reason I'm here" Cole tells her. Though 2 years had passed, Cassie was still no closer to learning who Leland Frost was. However, an NSA friend found out the man they were looking for was named Leland Goines. The target would be attending a fancy benefit, which was the perfect opportunity for Cole to take him out. He attempts this, but fails. The duo are captured by Goines' security team and discover that Goines and Cole met previously in 1987. The old man tells them that Cole mentioned the army of the 12 Monkeys back in '87 and that they were responsible for the virus. In order to escape, Cole offers to show Goines a trick. He touches Cassie's present and future watch together causing an explosion. He and Cassie manage to escape the blast, but he doubles back to kill Leland Goines with a bullet to the head. Goines was dead but Cole had not been erased. The mission had failed, but armed with the new knowledge of the 12 Monkeys Cole returns to his time. He tells his team what took place and that the true architects of the plague are this radical group. At an institution for the mentally insane, Jennifer Goines is told her father is dead. She has inherited his entire fortune, but she's far too busy to care. Does her monkey drawing connect her to the 12 Monkeys?
