9021-NOOOO: Liam to Hook Up with Annie?

90210 fans may need to wait until March 9 for a new episode, but at least they have a pair of intriguing spoilers to consider.

According to Michael Ausiello's latest column, Annie will be involved in two major storylines when 90210 finally returns to The CW:

  1. The character's hit-and-run story will conclude, in a surprising way, in the season finale.
  2. When Liam and Naomi run into trouble, the former will turn to Annie for support.

That's all the information we have on the rumors at the moment.

Do you wanna see a Liam and Annie hook-up, which has never taken place, despite Naomi's long-held belief to the contrary for most of season two?

Diego Boneta Joins Cast of 90210

Finally, 90210 casting news that involves someone coming to the show.

Over the last few weeks, we've learned that Jennie Garth and Rob Estes would not be returning for season three. But Diego Boneta is going in the opposite direction:

The pop singer is coming aboard for a recurring role as Javier, a young musician that appears in multiple episodes this May. Look for the character to have a fling with Adrianna... who joins an all-girl band!

Diego Boneta

As first reported by TV Guide, this will mark Boneta's first high-profile acting gig in the States.

The singer has been nominated for Latin MTV Awards and Latin Grammys. He's also opened for Hilary Duff on tour.

What do you think of this casting move?

How Should Harry Wilson Exit 90210?

Both The CW and Rob Estes himself have confirmed that the actor is leaving 90210 after the conclusion of season two.

This comes as a shock to fans, as Harry never settled into an ongoing, interesting storyline, but still played a vital role on the show as principal of West Beverly and father to Annie and Dixon.

Because it doesn't sound as though 90210 will replace Estes with a new actor, the question lingers: how will he be written out?

Consider the options below; vote; and then leave a comment and/or post in our 90210 forum about how you'd depict Harry's exit...

Rob Estes: Leaving 90210!

First, Jennie Garth said goodbye.

Now, in far more unexpected casting news, Rob Estes is also out of 90210.

"Rob won’t be on the show next season,” a show insider told RadarOnline.com. "The producers, the studio and Rob came to the conclusion together that his role had ran its course. There just wasn’t enough for Rob to do because the show is more about the kids.”

That's true... but there must be more to this story. After all, Estes portrays the school principal and the father to two of the main characters. There are plenty of storylines in which he's been at least somewhat involved.

Harry Wilson Picture

As you might expect, another source says the problem comes down to money.

“Rob’s an experienced actor and feels he deserves to be compensated accordingly," this source said. "But the CW just wants to cut costs and they want to reward all these young (and therefore cheaper) actors and actresses instead."

It's unclear at this time if Estes will be around when the series returns with new episodes on March 9. It sounds like writers will be scrambling to find a way to write him out for next season, but it won't be easy given his character's role on the show.

Will Harry and Deb get divorced? Will Harry get fired and move away? Might the series replace Estes with a different actor?

** UPDATE: Estes will complete work on season two and then leave the show. He's released the following statement:

"This is my final season on "90210" and I wish the show, cast and crew nothing but the best. I am looking forward to spending time with my kids and exploring other opportunities."

Jennie Garth: Done with 90210

At last night's Golden Globe Awards, Jennie Garth walked the red carpet.

When asked about her status on 90210, the actress said she was done filming scenes as Kelly Taylor. She's taking time away from acting to focus on writing a children's book and starting an unspecific project with husband Peter Facinelli.

Kelly hasn't been involved in a storyline in some time. Debbie has taken exception to Harry's relationship with his co-worker over the last few weeks, but Garth made it clear awhile ago that she wouldn't let her character be involved in an affair.

It's unclear if 90210 viewers will ever see Kelly again.

The show doesn't return until March 9, and Garth may have meant she was simply done filming new scenes, yet will still appear in some that have already been shot. Guess we'll need to tune in and find out.

Ryan O'Neal to Play Teddy's Famous Father on 90210

We apologize for the recent lack of 90210 news these days, fans, but there's an unfortunate reason why all is quiet on this show's set:

It doesn't return with new episodes until March 9.

Fortunately, The CW has released the following piece of casting information to keep viewers buzzing: Ryan O’Neal is coming on board the series as Teddy's movie star father. He'll appear in multiple episodes and debut in April.

On the small screen, O’Neal has most recently been seen as Brennan's dad on Bones. Do you approve of this selection?

TV Fanatic Mid-Season Report Card: 90210

With every primetime series on hiatus until 2010, it's time to take a look back.

When will your favorite show return? Consult with the TV Fanatic television calendar now.

Until then, our staff will gather and report on the status of various sitcoms and dramas. Up now: 90210.

Best Character: Adrianna and Naomi (tie). We couldn't choose just one. As we lauded in our previous Round Table, the show could easily have sent Adrianna down another drug-induced spiral. But it avoided that cliche and has created a mature, realistic character that truly depicts the struggles and pressures of a young addict.

Naomi, meanwhile, is simply hilarious. AnnaLynne McCord was given the opportunity to give this character more than one, bitchy dimension and she's run with it brilliantly.

Jasper and Annie

Worst Character: Teddy. He looks 37, let's start with that. But he also comes across as a complete jackass. Granted, he showed a sensitive side when Silver's mom got sick. But it takes more than just hitting a few tennis balls on a roof for us to believe Silver would actually go for him, as 90210 spoilers have revealed she will.

We can't think of any way Teddy has been a good friend to anyone else on the show and, unlike Naomi, his jerky comments don't come across as humorous, just as... jerk-like.

Best Storyline: Jackie's cancer and subsequent death. Jessica Stroup was outstanding throughout this plot development, while it managed to combine the sentiment of the old show with the remade version. It also kick-started a relationship between Silver and Teddy, as mentioned above, while helped to provide a catalyst for Adrianna's eventual recovery and Silver and Dixon's reconciliation.

A solid storyline brings numerous characters together and creates building blocks for future developments. This qualified in every way possible.

Grade so far: B Plus.

Hopes for 2010: More Ivy, she's growing on us (pun... intended!); A new, less crazy love interest for Dixon; Dire consequences for Annie as a result of her hit-and-run; More shots of Liam shirtless; Adrianna and Navid back together.

What about you, readers? What grade would you give the show so far this season?

Surfing and Skateboarding: Gillian Zinser and Matt Lanter Film Scenes for 90210

Warning to those wishing to avoid all 90210 spoilers: shield your eyes!

The following shots of Gillian Zinser and Matt Lanter on set reveal major developments for the second half of season two: Ivy will be skateboarding; Liam wil be surfing; and this pair will be talking.

We kid. The photos below don't actually depict anything noteworthy, but it's always fun to see actors on set, isn't it? Moreover, based on the way the mid-season finale concluded, it's safe to assume that Ivy and Liam are discussing the latter's new relationship with Naomi.

Most fans seem to be in favor of it, but we were actually digging his connection to Zinser's character. Where do you stand on who Liam should date? Weigh in now in our 90210 forum!

Scott Patterson to Recur on 90210

That didn't take long.

Shortly after we confirmed that 90210 was seeking an actor to play Liam's biological father, the show has found its next recurring star.

As first reported by TV Guide, Scott Patterson has landed this role. The actor is best known for having played Luke on Gilmore Girls from 2000-2007.

Scott Patterson

Patterson will portray Jack, Liam's real dad, and will appear in multiple episodes when drama returns in January.

The character arrives Los Angeles after a stint in prison, hoping to earn some cash and settle down by opening a tackle shop on the marina. Liam is thrilled to see him... but will this relationship end well?
