90210 Review: You Can't Always Get What You Want

On 90210 this week, Naomi continued on her quest to become a full-fledged grown-up - and almost achieved that impossible dream by landing a big client.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be "No Good Deed" because it was Mitchell Nash's 16-year-old, hateful, goth-wannabe daughter, Carla. Naomi promised to make her the most popular girl in high school. And, boy, did she when the brat posted the party on Facebook. Complete with under-age drinking and sex. Like Daddy, like daughter.

Realizing the kid was heading down Naomi-lane, Naomi developed a conscience and dispensed amazingly good advice. And in typical cat-style landed on her feet with a big star client to boost. Gotta love that girl. She's a born operator.

Elsewhere, Pushy Vanessa booked Liam onto a talk show. Himbo Liam froze up. Disaster. But later he ended up saving a drowning girl from the bay and... voila! Party and reputation saved. Raise your hands if you knew that was a set-up when you saw that twisted look Vanessa had on her face watching the rescue. Manipulative much?

Meanwhile, Silver discovered she still had feelings for Navid. It's amazing how quickly her feelings can switch from one guy to another. Wasn't she ready to move to New York with a single dad just ONE week ago?

So Navid "decided" to go to Princeton when all he wanted was for Silver to want him to stay. If he only had known the embers still burned.

Adrianna discovered working with Dixon was a romance killer. Then Dixon added fuel to the fire by asking Adrianna to move in with him out of convenience. The classic fight ensued: Are you just saying nothing's wrong or am I supposed to figure it out while you're suffocating me with a pillow? In the end, Dixon did the right thing and asked her to move in properly. True love conquered all. For now.

Adrianna and Silver consoled each other over their messed up love lives. While it was nice to see the bosom buddies giving each other advice, you know it'll only be a matter of time before their hands are wrapped around each other's necks again.

Ivy's gallery was broken into and defaced. Gee, could that skateboarder have done it? Of course. And were those sparks flying between them? Of course. Here we go... another delusional romance. At least this guy made Ivy realize the error of her ways and helped her to decide to become a true street artist.

Annie tried to decide what to do with her life and her millions. Castillo Bay Charity to the rescue. Loved the line about Ivy's photo frames matching the towels in some rich person's bathroom. After getting ambushed by a reporter, Annie found out Hilllingsbrook Industries screwed her. And like we couldn't figure out the bartender was the Hillingsbrook prick that did it.

But the best was saved for last. Jen and Jacques are back! I was actually happy to see them again. The recent cast additions have been lame at best, so it was a relief to have Naomi's thorn-in-her-side back from gay Paris. S'up bitch indeed!

Come on now, 90210. Let's pick it up.

Fresh off a rather lame episode, this CW drama returns tomorrow night with "No Good Deed."

In need of improved buzz and ratings to ensure another season, this is what fans can look forward to on the new episode:

Annie will organize a fundraiser.
Naomi's plan to nab her first-ever client won't exactly go off without a hitch.
Silver will realize she still has feelings for Navid.
Vanessa will put plans into motion that she thinks will make Liam a star.

Was it me or was "Trust, Truth and Traffic" one of the lamest 90210 episodes ever? If it hadn't been for the Adrianna/Silver reconciliation scene in the park, I would've changed the channel from the moment old hooker Bree re-entered the picture. And most definitely after seeing Ivy wearing that damn idiot hat again.

Ivy got an interview with Nick's old squeeze, who owned a fancy gallery and promptly got dissed. What perplexed me was the fact that all of a sudden Ivy was a photographer. When did that happen? She doinked a photographer and that automatically made her one as well? Oh please. As much as I hated Ivy as a surfer chick, at least that was slightly more believable than her becoming the next Annie Liebovitz.

Elsewhere, Liam asked for Naomi's event planning assistance in re-launching Offshore. It looked like Vanessa started milking Liam for all he was worth, what with her buying pricey beer and AbMan cutouts to decorate the bar. But all she was doing was proving her undying love for him. Yawn. I loved the scathing, elevator glance Naomi gave Vanessa upon first meeting her. And, of course, Offshore's relaunch was a raging success.

By the way, Naomi and Hal? Shades of Naomi and Max all over again. Been there, done that. Worked the first time. Lightning did not strike twice. Although Naomi's bar trick WAS pretty impressive.

After Silver got livid over Navid telling Adrianna about Silver's connection to Greg, they reminisced about their past relationship with Adrianna. I must admit that letter Adrianna had written to Maizy was heartbreaking. The whole "two hearts inside me" part made my eyes well up. And we all knew Adrianna hadn't really kidnapped Maizy.

But Greg breaking up with Silver because he didn't trust her? Really?!? He couldn't have Silver in his daughter's life? Umm... .he'd known Silver for about a week. And she's 18. Get a clue, dude. Good riddance.

Meanwhile, Dixon and Austin sweated it out over the sorority house, while Annie sweated it out about having to reveal her past escort escapades. While I knew Bree would stir the pot when she stayed with Dixon and Austin, she did have a point when she rationalized why she did what she did to Annie.

Poor Annie. Wanting to finally do the right thing she told Austin about being an escort. And surprise, surprise, good old boy Austin was actually a good old boy and took the fall for the fire. Good way to write him off the show. Just as I was starting to get used to him, too.

Hopefully the writers will turn up the volume in next week's installment, however, because, like the real Armageddon, this episode blew up all over the place and left nothing but desperation in its path.

And... we're back! To the same old drama... the same old problems... and the same dysfunctional 90210.

In "Mama Can You Hear Me?" Annie continued to delve into Liam's new relationship with Vanessa to the point of being a nudge. Why, exactly, did she care so much that Vanessa was into Liam? Let it go, girl. She really should have gone to Carnegie Mellon.

Vanessa confessed all to Liam. After playing the sad, poor girl role, the latter fell for it hook, line and sinker. Blah blah blah. There's something hinky about that girl. We all know it. But after seeing Liam defend Vanessa, I'm officially convinced Liam is a himbo. Nice to look at but nothing between those ears.

Naomi decided to play savior with Holly and her mom, Rachel. Frankly, it seemed like a lost cause. "Superstar" Mitchell Nash was hilarious and probably very true-to-life, but, honestly, Rachel needed to take a chill pill. Who would've thought Naomi would be Holly's biggest cheerleader? As always, though, no good deed went unpunished. It got Naomi fired. But (surprise!) Holly and Naomi became fast friends. For now. The way that pendulum swung was dizzying.

And I have to point out that no one can rock an outfit the way Naomi can. Especially a fedora. Dixon and Ivy take note. Hot damn!

Navid figured out that Silver's new boyfriend, Greg, was Adrianna's daughter, Maizy's, new daddy. (Follow all that?) Silver accused him of not being able to move on. Random coincidence? Methinks not. Does anyone else think Greg is about as exciting as a newly-laid turd. Yawn.

Elsewhere, Ivy manipulated new beau, Nick, into being a Hollywood paparazzi instead of a wartime journalist. Are we really supposed to care about this doomed relationship? Snore. And, please, red bow ties should get you automatically shot on the red carpet, never mind the battlefield.

Also, Austin and Dixon bonded over heartbreak. And burned Holly's sorority house to the ground. Good times! And frankly the best part of this boring ass episode.

Seriously, if it hadn't been for the zippy, lightning-fast, one-liners being winged back and forth, this hour would have been better than an Ambien.

So... will Navid stick his nose where it doesn't belong just for the sake of friendship and reveal to Adrianna where her little girl ended up? Will Naomi and Holly become bosom buddies now? Will Vanessa continue to lead Liam by the nose to his eventual doom? Yes, yes and yes. But we'll see what next week brings!

Robert Hoffman to Say His Prayers on 90210

Holy 90210 casting news!

Robert Hoffman (Grey's Anatomy, Drop Dead Diva, Step Up 2: The Streets) has landed a recurring role on this CW drama as Caleb, an "easygoing surfer," according to E! News. Look for the character to premiere in March and draw the attention of at least one leading lady, but also look for him to resist... because he's studying to be a priest at seminary school.

90210 Review: Out With The Old, In With The New?

Happy New Year! But was it really? It seemed that 2012 just brought new 90210 drama in "Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot?."

When last we met, Liam (aka AbMan) had found out that Annie was a whore and had then proceeded to get run over and left in the middle of the street... only to be rescued by the very same chick who ran him over. Dixon had used Adrianna's song about Maizy, her given-up-for-adoption daughter, to lay down some mean beats on his latest "hit." Navid had gotten beat senseless by Uncle Amal's thug buddies and Naomi had caught cowpoke Austin poking her arch-nemesis, Holly.

As usual, Naomi had the best lines of the night. Not to mention the best hairstyles and outfits. Whether it was a pulled-back bun or a Veronica Lake old-school flip, the girl rocked every single look she was put in. Including the topless one behind the curtain at the Pasadena Debutante's Snow Ball.

I love me some Naomi and I have to say she handled every situation she was placed in with aplomb and pinache. This certainly was not the old brat of past seasons. So what that she was looking to get over Austin by banging a cadet at the ball? She seemed to have taken Rachel's words of wisdom to heart and decided Naomi was more important than any Tom, DICK or Harry that came along. Hope it's a lesson that'll stick.

Dixon and Adrianna continued their hot and heavy romance until the "pressures" of fame started to work Dixon's (aka Black KFed) last nerve. Why the hissy fits and histrionics, Dixon? You've been in the music business forever. Why did Adrianna have to remind him of the sleazeballs that permeate that industry? Did he just realize that most of those dudes just want to get laid? Had he never really looked at Adrianna? Methinks he'd been wearing that lame fedora too tight. But I did dig the new razor lines cut into the side of his head.

Liam got heavily involved with Vanessa, the duplicitous scam artist that not only ran him over but also saved him once she discovered he was AbMan. Annie was dead set against it until being told by nearly everyone to turn the page and let Liam live his life. Yeah, sure, let him get taken by yet another psychotic chick. While I thought reviving the love affair between Annie and Liam was like flogging a dead horse, I'd like to see what Annie does with the information she has that Vanessa is the new Sybil. One dame with 18 personalities. Something wicked just landed in Beverly Hills. Good times!

And speaking of Annie, she's rich, bitches! Finally getting her hands on Marla's inheritance meant she apparently liked blowing her cash on tacky clothes for Dixon and repaired bikes for Liam. Will she try to buy back Adrianna's kid, too? And was it wrong of me to like her hot mess of a "Hello to a New Year" party?

Silver continued to pursue her newfound relationship with Greg while also finally being told by Cat that Navid had been trying to turn his nefarious Uncle Amal into the cops by playing undercover. A case of too little, too late, since Navid's attempt at reuniting with Silver fell on dead ears. By the way, what was up with Silver's matronly, Mad Men housewife look at Annie's New Year's party? Ugh. At least they finally put the Uncle Amal story to rest by bringing Navid's shady dad back to face the music and rescue his son. That's the least the old pornographer could do.

Ivy seemed to have gotten over Raj mighty quickly. Does anyone else think Nick's sort of greasy and disposable? Is it too late to bring Raj back? I really didn't see the chemistry between those two but then again Ivy's always been sort of a pill and tends to bring all her lovers down.

For once, I felt like these kids had finally grown up. High school seemed worlds away. I guess prostitution, drugs, car theft rings, hit-and-runs and adopted kids can do that to a person, though, huh?

What'd you guys think? Has Naomi turned over a new leaf and become the new, improved version of her former vapid self or will this be a case of the more things change, the more they stay the same? Will Silver tell Adrianna that the dude's she's now dating is the adopted daddy of her baby girl? Will Vanessa lead Liam down a doomed path? And will Dixon and Ivy finally stop wearing those equally annoying doofus fedoras? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh, and one last thing. Lesson of the night, kiddies: rebound sex doesn't work.

La Toya Jackson to Guest Star on 90210

La Toya Jackson will stop by 90210 next month - and it won't just be fans of Michael Jackson who will be happy to see her.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson will come on board for at least one episode and play a major role in Dixon's life. Look for her as a high-powered music executive who sets her eyes on Annie's talented adopted brother. She'll make Dixon a life-altering offer.
