Recap

We won't leave readers in suspense for too long: Scott MacIntyre was voted off American Idol last night.

The affable, talented singer/songwriter was joined in the bottom three by Lil Rounds (no surprise) and Anoop Desai (some surprise), but we weren't shocked when Scott's name was announced. He even seemed hip to hit fate during the performance show, when he said he wanted to show his versatality before being sent home.

As for the guest performers:

- Flo Rida sang a crowd-pleasing version of “Right Round.”

- Season 5 finalist Kellie Pickler brought the crowd to her feet with her single, “Best Days of Your Life.”

- Frankie Avalon, a teen star from a loooong time ago ago, started the hour singing “Venus,” a pop song he’d sung in 1959, the year Simon Cowell was born.

But back to MacIntyre. After the judges didn't vote to save him, Paula Abdul spoke up, kindly saying:

"On behalf of the judges I want to say that you have been an inspiration to the entire world through your commitment, through your talent, and we all watch American Idol so we as an audience get to witness unique and gifted artists such as you Scott realize a dream that seems near impossible. You are one classy gentleman. God bless you, we love you."

She's never sounded less crazy.
