Following an impressive performance show, it truly was unclear which American Idol finalist would be sent home last night.
The evening started with Alicia Keys coming out and ntroducing a young man that wants to make an album to help other African children so that they can fight HIV.
She asks viewers to text the word “ALIVE” to 90999 and donate $5 to the cause. A nice gesture for sure.
Next, we saw footage from the finalists' hometown visits. It all aired the night before, as well.
After that, it was performance time: Jordin Sparks did a great job with the single "Battlefield," though this former winner has lost way to much weight. Eat a cheeseburger, Jordin!
Katy Perry also sang a song, "Waking Up in Vegas." and, wait, was Adam Lambert's name embroidered on her cape. Cool!
Now, let's get to the elimination: Ryan Seacrest surprised us when announced, right away, that Kris Allen was safe. No way Lambert gets elimination, right? Right?!?!
Danny Gokey got the boot, following 88 million texts, Ryan said. As Gokey's montage video rolled, we prepared ourselves for an Allen versus Lambert finals. The underdog versus the favorite. It should be fun!
