Big Love Season Four Spoilers: A Focus on the Church of Bill

When the third season of Big Love concluded, Bill Henrickson - due to frustration with his religion’s rules against polygamy - formed the "Church of Bill."

Look for this creation to play a major role on season four, which begins shooting in August.

In an interview with TV Guide Magazine, Bill Paxton said he hopes the new church helps his character spread his word to a growing flock.

“I had lunch with the writers to talk about what we hope will be happening for the next three years,” Paxton said last week. “I’d like to see Bill’s fortunes rise, the casino investment pay off and provide us a chance to swagger in our lifestyle like in the movie Giant.”

Church of Bill Creator

An influx in money cash would allow Henrickson to invest in a new compound to compete with the oppressive Grant dynasty. That clearly appeals to the show's star.

“Bill is being groomed as a young prophet. I’d like to see him buy some land like they did in the early 1800’s and start a utopian town that’s more inclusive. I think he’s going to rise.”

But be careful what you wish for, Bill.

Douglas Smith, who plays Henrickson son Ben, said of his on-screen father: “If he goes off to a compound, I want to take over the three households - and annex Margene for myself!”.

Big Love Spoilers: More Lois, Rhonda

Don't worry, Big Love, fans: you haven't seen the last of Lois or Rhonda.

According to creator Will Scheffer, Grace Zabriskie (Lois) will play a major role on the drama next season.

"We've got a pretty big story for Lois and her husband and maybe a grandson or two," Scheffer told E! Online. "The last line she spoke in episode two last season is when she approaches Wanda and says, 'Might you tell me from where you made the purchase of that bird, so if I might want one for companionship, I would know where to procure one.' That's the hint."

We'll let readers stew over those mysterious words on their own.

Meanwhile, Scheffer also hinted that Rhonda is not finished with Big Love, but won't return any time soon.

Big Love Spoilers: Big Love Seaon Four Storylines

At last night's Paley Fest 2009, the producers and cast of Big Love were on hand to talk about the upcoming season four storylines.  To start off, Will Scheffer confirmed that Roman is in fact dead by saying, "He's absolutely dead. This isn't one of those vampire shows. Dead is dead on this show."

From there, Mark V. Olsen told E! Online that the plotlines revolving around Roman, however, are not over.  He said, "There's Roman's funeral, and his presence on the show is huge next year. He's still a looming presence. Things are coming to light that were hidden; things are coming up from the past, from the grave."

Roman and his Wives

Though Olsen did say they "don't do flashbacks" so do not expect to actually see any more Roman walking around.

As far as other Big Love season four story lines, Mark says, "A theme we're exploring this season is the subjugation of women. It's not as if we haven't done this before, but we're going to do it in a deeper way."

Big Love Season Two Quotes and Pictures

While we wait desperately for season four of Big Love, we can't help but go back through the older season of the amazing drama here at the Fanatic.

If you haven't had a chance to see the second season of this incredible show that introduced us to some of the biggest sources of drama in the third season, run to the store and pick up the DVDs.

Bill

You will not be disappointed by the season that introduced us to Ana, Weber Gaming, the Greenes, and both Sarah and Ben having premarital sex.  For now, you can look through some of our favorite scenes and Big Love quotes from the season:

Sarah [about polygamy]: I don't think anybody knows, mom, and not everybody cares | permalink
Nicki: I didn't marry for love. I married for the principle.
Barb: I didn't. I tried. I don't know if I have a testimony for the principle. But I love you, I love our family more and more.
Nicki: That frightens me. I don't know that a marriage based on love can go the distance. The secret holiness of the institution. The sanctity of marriage. Without it, it's just random couplings, with no purpose or sticktoitiveness. How will we survive the bad times on just love? | permalink
Nicki: Poor Joey and Wanda. They're all they've got. No other spouses to lean on. How are they going to make it through this crisis with only each other? | permalink
Bill: You're my wife, Margene. You can't be seeing the girl I'm dating. | permalink

Big Love Spoilers: Ana Not Guaranteed in Fourth Season

Less than a week after we reported that Ana will return to Big Love during the fourth season, executive producer Mark V. Olsen had to crush our dreams.

The producer told the L.A. Times that "Ana is someone I think deserves to come back into the life of the family, but there's not a guarantee that it will be in the fourth season."

Ana Answers the Phone

Olsen goes on to say, "I talked to [Ana's portrayer] Branka, and I said, 'You're definitely going to come back either this season or in a later season. We want you to come back.' And then what happens is we don't always have a completely planned-out season when we go into the writers' room"

Olsen continues, "If we come up with a premise that's going to take us through this next year, and it relates somehow to Ana coming back into the family to cause trouble or to dramatize that theme, then she'll definitely come back."

Hey, at least this means we're getting a Big Love fifth season more than likely and she's coming back to stir up trouble!

Big Love Spoilers: Ana's Return

If you thought you heard the last of Bill's short-lived fourth wife, Ana, you were wrong.  Branka Katic will be returning to Big Love during season four and Ausiello has the scoop.

Katic told Ausiello that "I'll be back to cause some trouble.  I think she's somewhere out there licking her wounds. I think she divorced out of pure compassion because the damage she was causing the family was something she certainly didn't want to happen."

Branka Katic as Ana

We're not sure if this is possible but Big Love's fourth season may have more drama than the explosive third.  We'll have more season four spoilers as they develop!

Big Love Season Four Air Date and Spoilers

Big Love went out with a bang last Sunday killing off a major character and introducing a couple new storylines for season four.  So when will we get to see these new episodes?

Big Love co-creator, Will Scheffer told Korbi that the fourth season is set to air in January.  He also said that much like season three, four will only contain ten episodes.  Hey as long as they were as good as the ten from season three, we're okay with it.

Also, Will said that Alby's little co-conspirator / wife played by Anne Dudek (of House fame) will return next season even though she's not tied to a contract.

Will also teased with a little season five spoiler to.  That's right, season five.  According to Will, the sexual issues between Ben and Margene will not back back until then.
