Frustrated by Van Alden's inability to follow through on their arrangement, Lucy tells Nucky the name of her baby's father. With this valuable information, Nucky offers Van Alden money in exchange for any information about the new assistant district attorney, Esther Randolph, who has recently set up shop in the same post office as Van Alden. Van Alden faces a difficult decision, but ends up turning over his very long file on Nucky to Randolph to show that he's an honest man at heart.
Margaret visits her family in Brooklyn, but the reunion is rather awkward. Feeling guilty over the manner in which she left her Irish home, Margaret offers financial help for both her brother and younger sisters. However, her brother won't accept any of her assistance and she returns home frustrated...and then sleeps with Owen.
After making a business partnership with Luciano and Lansky, Jimmy brings his new accomplices to Atlantic City for a meeting with Eli and Capone. Eli suggests they kill Nucky since the election rigging charges haven't really worked out yet. Even though the group seems agreeable to this plan, Jimmy is hesitant, at first, but eventually arranges the hit. Unfortunately, Nucky is only wounded when the hitman shoots him in the hand.
