Season four of Brothers & Sisters kicks off on Sunday night, September 27.

As previous reports and spoilers have stated, viewers can expect the following developments to take place early on this fall:

• Kitty discovers her health is in jeopardy;
• Justin heads to medical school;
• Nora and Holly get into it over an engagement party for their children.

No written preview of the new season can reveal as much as an official ABC trailer, however. Check out the latest promo below, which is conveniently translated into Spanish for some of our readers:

The off-set issues created by Balthazar Getty affected the on-set product of Brothers & Sisters last season.

But now that Tommy Walker is essentially off the show, sources confirm that all is well and the fourth season ahead will be a major crowd pleaser.

E! News has a preview of what's ahead when the series returns with new episodes on September 27:

• Conflict  arises between Scotty and Kevin over how to adopt and how much to spend;
• Rachel Griffiths and Gilles Marini in bed? H-O-T!
• Justin will have a difficult time in med school;
• Either Kitty or Robert is keeping a major secret from the other.

The cast of Brothers & Sisters continues to expand.

Over the last week, actors Joe Morton and Denzel Whitaker have landed recurring roles on the ABC drama.

Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that we can add two more names to that list:

• Amy Aquino, who starred on ER as Dr. Coburn, will play another doctor. This time, her characters treats a member of the Walker family.
• Peter Gerety (Homicide, The Wire)  will appear as a “surprising outsider,” according to sources.

A pair of hit shows will deal with contrasting relationship states this fall: impending divorce and lifelong friendship.

What's to come on Brothers & Sisters and The Big Bang Theory? Consider the following storyline tidbits regarding a pair of couples:

• Expect a fourth season twist for Robert and Kitty on the ABC drama, as E! News teases their marriage is tested by both "external and internal forces."
• Over on the CBS sitcom, Penny and Leonard may be bad in bed together, but Jim Parsons says this doesn't mean she'll find love with Sheldon. Ever: "I think that they are so sibling-like. It would be wrong to introduce sex into that relationship."

One of the new characters on Brothers & Sisters has been cast.

Denzel Whitaker will play a lab partner for Justin, as Dave Annable's character will be enrolled in medical school when the ABC series returns in September. 

The young actor starred in the film The Great Debaters and has appeared on ER and CSI. His character of Carter has been billed as a Doogie Howser-like prodigy who will inspire Justin to question his priorities in life.

Whitaker premieres in the third episode of the season.

Joe Morton has landed a recurring role on the new season of Brothers & Sisters.

When the fourth season of the ABC drama kicks off next month, Justin Walker (Dave Annable) is in medical school; Morton will portray his anatomy professor.

The actor, who has guest-starred on a number of shows - including Boston Legal and House - will appear in at least seven episodes.

Round 97 of the ongoing Nora vs. Holly feud will commence this fall on Brothers & Sisters.

TV Guide Magazine reports that the mothers-in-law-to-be will throw an engagement party for their children, Justin and Rebecca, on the September season premiere.

As previously reported, Marion Ross will reprise her role as Nora's mom, Ida, for the occasion.

But that stress will be nothing for Nora, not compared to her disagreement with Holly over their kids’ impending nuptials, a fairy tale wedding that will likely highlight the return of family members Tommy, Julia and David, who returns to walk his daughter down the aisle.

We wish we had better Brothers & Sisters spoilers to report.

But it's hard to know the status of Julia Walker on season four of the show when the actress that portrays this character has no idea herself.

When asked by E! News if she'd be returning to the ABC drama this fall, Sarah Jane Morris pleaded ignorance.

"I hope so. I think so. If it comes up, great. If not, I had a fantastic send-off," she said, expounding on her plans if she's not asked back. "Right now I'm really itching to do a play. But if I could be on Friday Night Lights, my life would be made."

Brothers & Sisters returns to ABC with new episodes on September 27.

As previously reported, the show will get even better looking on its season premiere, as Gilles Marini kicks off his guest-starring stint as Sarah's new boyfriend.

Based on TV Guide's latest column of scoops and spoilers, here are a couple other fall storylines to keep an eye out for:

• Kitty and Robert will continue to put on facade that they are happily married, as the latter runs for governor;
• Justin will be busy pursuing his doctor dream;
• Marion Ross will reprise her role as Nora and Saul's mother.

Kitty and Robert are not a happily married couple. But don't tell that to voters in California!

Brothers & Sisters will introduce a pair of new characters next season.

The first will be a medical-school study partner for Justin. This individual will be a 16-year-old straight-A kid genius that will will challenge Justin’s confidence.

No actor has been cast in the role, but TV Guide Magazine reports that he may be of East Indian decent.

Meanwhile, information has been leaked about the character French actor Gilles Marini will portray.

When Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) returns this fall - after a much-needed vacation in France - Marini will appear as her new boyfriend. According to executive producer Monica Breen, Gilles’ character will “make Sarah really think about her views on men. He will be an amazing challenge for her.”

He'll also play a prominent role in Sarah’s business dealings at Ojai Foods.
