- An art museum is the scene of the crime as a $50 million piece of art was stolen and the art director is found murdered.
- Serena Kaye, the museum’s insurance investigator is on hand to help out and romance Castle along the way.
- The victim’s assistant had built a piece that was also on display at the gala. The security system had been tripped by professional robbery equipment.
- A man named Falco had been hired to trip the wires by the part owner of the display. The owners, a divorcing couple, had allowed the museum to display the art. The wife wanted the money for the display so she had stolen it and hit it in the assistant’s piece.
- Serena (a former thief) works with the detectives to return the artwork, getting her finders fee.
