Dancing with the Stars Crowns Season Eight Champion

As comedian and contestant Jeffrey Ross put it - during his finalist roast on last night's Dancing with the Stars - this season came down to "the underage, the unwed and the unpronounceable."

So, who came out on top: Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft or Gilles Marini?

In the end, the Olympic gymnast defeated the French actor by less than one percent. It was the closest final vote in the show's history.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas

After being handed the mirror ball trophy, Johnson exclaimed:

"I've loved every second of [dancing]. This has been the best experience ever. I've grown so much."

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Group Performances, Melissa Rycroft Injury

This week's edition of Dancing with the Stars was highlighted by two events:

  • An exciting group face-off between Team Tango and Team Mambo;

Still, the group number were entertaining. Read more about them, and see who sat atop last night's leadboard, via this Dancing with the Stars summary.

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Week Seven

For the first time in weeks, a tandem other than Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke earned the highest score on Dancing with the Stars.

During an evening of Rumbas and Jives, judge Bruno Tonioli reacted to one performance by saying he felt like he had been "arrested and frisked," while Len Goodman responded to another routine by saying: “For me, part of that was more suitable for the bedroom than the ballroom."
