Dexter visits with Matthews and learns that La Guerta suspects him of being the Bay Harbor Butcher. He and Deb must plant evidence that will convince Miami Metro that Doakes was a serial killer once and for all. La Guerta, however, refuses to believe that Doakes was guilty and devises a plan to trap the Bay Harbor Butcher, whom she believes to be Dexter, while in the act.

As Deb closes in on charging Hannah with the counselor's murder, Deb falls asleep behind the wheel of her car and ends up in the hospital.
