Doctor Who Season 8
Doctor Who Season 8 Episode 13 Review: Last Christmas
On Doctor Who Nick Frost plays Santa as The Doctor and Clara deal with issues in the North Pole. How festive, right?
Doctor Who Season 8 introduced us to Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. He took over from one of the most popular Doctors of all time, Matt Smith. Coming with his regeneration was Clara Oswin Oswald, the Impossible Girl, who was formerly Eleven's companion. Even Twelve admitted that he thought he might have had romantic feelings for Clara when he was Eleven, and that it wasn't Clara's mistake in thinking of their relationship like that, but his own.
Immediately upon his regeneration, Twelve did what he could to distance himself emotionally from Clara, calling her names and pointing out her mannish body, etc. As a result of his newness as The Doctor and Clara's experience, there is an interesting dynamic between the two in Doctor Who Season 8 with Clara having a stronger and almost more powerful and persuasive persona than The Doctor himself.
Early in the season, The Doctor meets with the Daleks and questions whether or not he is a good man, something his encounter with the Daleks proves to be very fruitful at explaining. We also meet a new character, Missy, who apparently runs Heaven. That's a completely new thing for Doctor Who and together with Clara's visiting The Doctor as a small boy makes one wonder if Twelve really might be the last regeneration of this particular Doctor.

The Doctor: Clara? You asked me what we're going to do, I told ya. We're going to go to hell, or wherever it is people go when they die, if there is anywhere. Whatever it is we're gonna go there and we're gonna find Danny. And if it is in any way possible, we're going to bring him home. Every culture has a concept of an afterlife. I always meant to have a look around, see if I could find one.
Clara: You're going to help me?
The Doctor: Well, why wouldn't I help you?
Clara: Because of what I just did, I just...
The Doctor: You betrayed me. You betrayed our trust, you betrayed our friendship, you betrayed everything that I've ever stood for. You let me down!
Clara: Then why are you helping me?
The Doctor: Why? Do you think that I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?
