FlashForward Interview: Gabrielle Union on Future Vision, Character Profile

Will Demetri Noh really be killed on March 15, 2010? That's one of many questions FlashForward viewers have to contemplate over the next few months.

But Gabrielle Union - who debuts as Zoey, Demetri's fiancee, tonight - spoke to Movieline this week and made it sound as though her character's betrothed may survive after all, at least based on Zoey's vision of the future.

“I have a flashforward that’s a little different than his, as he doesn’t have one, and I’m insisting that he was in mine. But I believe that we are getting married. I think that’s what I see," Union said.

Not that the actress is really privy to any FlashForward spoilers, however. She added:

“The [producers] are Fort Knox-y. If you say something, they’ll track you down!”

Zoey and Demetri

As for her character, Union described Zoey as follows:

“She’s a really smart character who is not in-your-face or a know-it-all... She’s actually pretty balanced, normal, and highly functioning, which is rare for me to play, as she’s not completely neurotic."

FlashForward airs a new episode tonight, titled "137 Sekunden," in which Mark interviews a prisoner that claims to have unique knowledge of the blackouts.

FlashForward: Four Sneak Peeks from "137 Sekunden"

Earlier this week, we posted a sneak peek at this week's new episode of FlashForward, "137 Sekunden."

Throughout the hour, Mark visits a prisoner that claims to know why everyone blacked out for two minutes at 17 seconds; Demetri talks about the visions with his fiancee; and Aaron asks something unusual of Mark.

All three of those scenes are teased in the video below.

Check out the series of sneak peeks below, get excited for the new installment and come back to TV Fanatic each week for the latest FlashForward spoilers, recaps, photos and more.

A FlashForward Funeral: Episode Stills from "137 Sekunden"

Through two episodes of FlashForward, we're major fans of this new ABC drama.

One complaint, however, is that the series hasn't focused enough on the bigger picture. After all, thousands - if not millions - of people died in the global blackouts, yet attention is being almost entirely paid to the problems of just a couple individuals.

Fortunately, it looks like the show has recognized this complaint and will tackle it on Thursday night's episode, "137 Sekunden."

As the photos below depict, there will be a memorial service held this week, in honor of those that died. Click on each images for a larger view and take a look at Gabrielle Union debuting as Demeri's fiancee...

FlashForward Sneak Peek: 137 Sekunden

Here's what we know about the global blackouts on ABC's new hit, FlashForward:

  • They took place at 11 a.m. PST on the same day;
  • Everyone on the planet, except for two people known so far, saw visions of themselves on April 29, 2010;
  • The blackouts lasted for a total of 137 seconds.

This week's episode appears to focus on the final fact listed above, as it's titled 137 Sekunden; the latter is the German word for "seconds."

In the clip below, Mark Benford stumbles upon evidence of a prisoner in Germany that claims to know why the flash forwards lasted for this amount of time.

Watch it now, and remember to visit TV Fanatic each week for the latest recaps, photos, quotes, spoilers and more.

FlashForward Round Table: "White to Play"

A creepy, doll-obsessed friend of Suspect Zero?

A connection between Charlie and Dylan?

The breaking news that Demetri Noh will be murdered?

The second episode of FlashForward certainly created a series of questions for viewers of this ABC drama.

While fans scramble for answers and browse through FlashForward spoilers, our staff is taking a step back. In our the first edition of the FlashForward Round Table, we analyze various characters and developments...

Will Demetri really be killed on March 15, 2010?
Mr. BlackOut: This is really the entire question of the series, isn't it? I'm gonna assume the answer is no, but this means the future can, indeed, be altered.

AgentYes: I don't know, but the woman that said she saw his murder was played by Shohreh Aghdashloo. I'm excited to see more of that Oscar winner on the show.

The Barnacle: Nah, I'm gonna go with Demetri just passed out drunk early that night and flash forwarded to his REM-less sleep.  Eh eh?  Maybe too much of a stretch, but I just don't want to see them kill off Harold... until Obama recruits him.

Creepier: Charlie's line about D. Gibbons, or the cupcake lady?
Mr. BlackOut: I'm scared of anyone that specializes in desserts for a living. Too much sugar can make people do crazy things.

AgentYes: Charlie! I didn't think it was possible for me to be freaked out by kids anymore; the storyline has been kinda played out in movies. But even Charlie's reaction to Dylar gave me goosebumps.

The Barnacle: You kidding me?  I was craving a red velvet cupcake from her.   On the other hand, Charlie manages to freak me out in a Sixth Sense kind of way every time she mutters one of her predictions.

A few FlashForward quotes from last night stand out in our minds:

Mark: If these flash forwards really are a window into the future, we've gotta do everything we can to use them to our advantage. | permalink
Olivia: I am never gonna be unfaithful to you, Mark.
Mark: We don't know what "never" means anymore. | permalink
Olivia: This man means nothing to me.
Mark: For now. | permalink

Michael Ealy to Recur on FlashForward

Michael Ealy has landed a recurring role on FlashForward.

The actor - most recently seen in an episode of Hawthorne, but best known as the lead in the underrated Showtime mini-series Sleeper Cell - will debut on the drama's 10th episode.

Ealy

Not a lot is known about his role, except for this: his character will cause problems for Joseph Fiennes' Mark Benford.

FlashForward will reunite Ealy with Sonya Walger, who played his love interest on Sleeper Cell.

FlashForward Asks: Who is D. Gibbons?

In one scene from tonight's episode of FlashForward, Janis tries to determine all she can about Suspect Zero.

In another, Mark and Demetri are focused on the identity of another mysterious individual: D. Gibbons.

This name appears on Mark's bulletin board in the future, meaning it's likely to have some connection to whatever the heck is going on.

We'll post a detailed recap of "White to Play" soon after it ends. For now, follow this article's jump and get an early look at these FBI agents debating.

FlashForward Clip: Who is Suspect Zero?

The series premiere of FlashForward left viewers with numerous questions, including:

While the final inquiry posed above is unlikely to be answered for awhile, at least Janis Hawk is on the case.

In the clip, below, courtesy of this week's new episode, she details what she knows about the only human being on Earth not to have blacked out...

Courtney B. Vance and Christine Woods Speak on FlashForward Characters

On FlashForward, Courtney B. Vance plays the Director of the Los Angeles Field Office of the FBI, Stan Wedeck.

Christine Woods portrays agent Janis Hawk.

The co-stars recently sat down for an interview and spoke on their character, show spoilers and more...

On their characters:
Vance: We supposedly have a background booklet. They never gave me mine, but some people got one. I'm refreshed by the fact that I really don't know a whole lot about what's going on. I have an idea about my character and his wife.

Woods: All the information you find out about your character, for some reason, ends up being some hidden secret that you kept from people.

On what's ahead:
Vance: The way that it's structured, they can go anywhere. So, I'm at peace with my not knowing anything.

Woods: I speculate on the grand scheme, "What caused this? Why did this happen?" But, I really mostly want to find out about Bryce (Zachary Knighton), or what happens to another person.

Vance: Yeah, what is Simon (Dominic Monaghan) about? What is Lloyd (Jack Davenport) doing here? There's a little clandestine meeting going on.

Woods: And I want to know how everybody knows each other.
