No major FlashForward spoilers, but a bit of news regarding this wildly anticipated new show:

First, the series is casting for a recurring character. He'll first appear in episode eight and appears to be a bodyguard of some kind. How do we know? The official ABC casting notice says this is a non-speaking role...

[GARY] 40s, Caucasian. Hard, aggressive. A middle-management guy, he's committed to doing whatever the higher-ups need, even if it takes him into morally questionable territory. Please note in current script this is a Non-Speaking role, but with the strong possibility of returning in future episodes.

We're just over two weeks away from the series premiere of FlashForward.

Based on a number of reports and spoilers, most potential viewers have a clear idea of what this unique drama is about.

But ABC has released the following official description for the series, which debuts on September 24. Check it out below and set your DVR accordingly...

What would you do if you were given a glimpse of the future? Would you accept what you saw and live life to its fullest, or would you do everything in your power to change your destiny? When the world's population is given a glimpse of their future, it forces everyone to come to grips with whether their destinies can be fulfilled or avoided.

FBI agent Mark Benford and his partner, Demetri Noh, are in the middle of a car chase monitored by their boss, Stanford Wedeck, and colleague Janis Hawk; Mark's wife, Dr. Olivia Benford, is in the middle of surgery; Dr. Bryce Varley is weighing a potentially life-ending decision.

As FBI agent Mark Benford, Joseph Fiennes anchors FlashForward.

The character is connected to almost every other mainstay on the ABC drama: he's married to Olivia; he's partners with Demetri; he's friends with Aaron.

The actor, meanwhile, is simply excited that his first starring role on the small screen is part of a show that is receiving such positive reviews. In a recent interview, he spoke on the appeal of FlashForward, specifically the conflict between characters:

"There's this impending doom. They seem to judge each other before these dates arrive. There's no absolute. It's not set in stone that [the future everyone flashes forward to] would happen. So I love the conflict element.”

Without giving away any significant FlashForward spoilers, Fiennes also touches on the cool, unique premise (in which everyone blacks out, sees a version of their future and then wakes up):

“I’m attracted to the idea that if you were to pursue, to either embrace and make the future happen as you saw it, because we've got to understand there's a lot of positive flash forwards, and if you try to avoid your negative flash forwards, that if you build a strategy in which to either embrace or reject it, that it could absolutely bring about it in a sort of self-fulfilling-prophecy way. So I love that.” 

The show premieres on September 24 on ABC.

In its latest issue, TV Guide Magazine previews a number of new fall shows.

For example, the publication speaks to Joseph Fiennes of FlashForward and gets this nugget, regardind spoiler security: he only gets a few pages of scripts at a time.

"It does feel a bit extreme," he says. "But I believe we've had some security leaks and unauthorized visitors."

Meanwhile, comedian Joel McHale told the magazine why he chose Community as his first starring sitcom role:

"The script for Community was the funniest thing I'd read in years. When I first read it, I was sitting on a plane next to a guy watching the movie What Happens in Vegas with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. I was laughing out loud, and he was getting pissed that I was laughing over his romantic comedy. And I was thinking, 'That's ironic.'"

As previous spoilers have revealed, Dominic Monaghan is now a series regular on FlashForward. He joins the ABC drama in its third episode, coming on board as the character of Simon.

In the FlashForward clips below, viewers (and Mark Benford) get introduced to Simon, who seems both mysterious and shady from the start.

We also get an in depth look at Olivia's vision of the future. This character is also played by a Lost alum, Sonya Walger. It's a bit disconcerting to see her in bed with someone other than Demond...

The latest trailer for this series, meanwhile, briefly answers that question for a number of characters.

In the clips below, we learn that one individual blacks out and sees herself as pregnant; another sees herself having an affair; another simply sees himself as alive, which is significant because he's on the verge of committing suicide when the flash forwards take place.

No major FlashForward spoilers are given away below, but the preview should help fans get excited for this show's September 24 premiere.

Sonya Walger is a familiar face to ABC viewers.

She played Desmond's long-time love, Penny Widmore, on Lost, a role she says she'd love to appear in on the show's final season.

For now, though, she's quite content to star on the network's next big hit, FlashForward. In a new interview with IGN, Walger dishes on her character and on the show's first few episodes...

On Olivia: Olivia is a strong, complicated woman who's a working mother. She's a trauma surgeon and a loving wife. She's devoted to her work and trying to make time for her kid. Olivia's plate is full long before the flash forward happens I think.

On what's ahead: It's wonderful. It's so exciting. So exciting watching the show spread out in such unexpected ways. The ripple effect of these premonitions and where they take us is really wonderful.

Our apologies to Supernatural fans that were looking forward to Genevieve Cortese reprising her role as Ruby this season. The actress won't return to the show.

But that's because she's landed a recurring role on FlashForward, ABC's mysterious, promising new drama. The actress will play Tracy Stark, the daughter of Aaron Stark (Brian F. O'Byrne).

FlashForward spoiler alert:Tracy was thought to have been killed in Iraq a couple years ago, but Aaron will see visions of his supposedly late daughter when he flashes forward on the series premiere.
