The BAU investigates a murder in which two victims' faces are similarly mutilated. Will contaminates a crime scene thinking he committed the first murder. Lecter begins to suspect Will is suffering Encephalitis. His friend Dr. Sutcliffe confirms this diagnosis, but Lecter is able to convince (and later murder him) to tell Will that he is fine physically.
Will finds a dead looking girl in the investigations of these murders, and she later follows him to his house. Will is able to help her and take her back to the BAU. The episode ends with this girl remembering a memory of Hannibal killing his friend, Dr. Sutcliffe, only his face is blurred.
