A young woman hides in the bowels of a Windjammer cruise ship as screaming is heard above. She's the sole survivor and somehow immune to whatever infected the other passengers. Dr. Julia Walker arrives on the island and speaks into a small audio recorder. "Arrived at St. Germaine island from the South East... All signs point to the pandemic originating on this island. There are no other options, I must find a cure." Aboard the cruise ship, Dr. Kyle Sommer quickly informs us this is this new virus is not Narvik. The survivor is found by the CDC team and she informs them the infected started killing each other off violently. Peter makes an educated guess that the virus was contracted on the island. The CDC team is dropped off on the island and the Coast Guard captain warns them another ship will take 2 weeks to pick them up. Feeling spooked by a face in the trees, the girl Layla, takes off running. Peter, Kyle and Sarah chase her to a Iarge barn. Meanwhile, Julia has been kidnapped by a strange man in a mask. She appears to be in that same barn, however we soon learn Julia is actually 30 years in the future. Julia's kidnapper plucks out her contacts and reveals her silver eyes. "I knew one day you'd come" he tells her. How long has he been waiting for her? She learns his name is Caleb and informs him she's dying of the disease. In the past, the CDC doctors discover Layla's dead body. Who killed her? Soon Kyle spots several torches outside the barn. The doctors find themselves surrounded by strangers who offer them shelter because the jungle is not safe. They arrive at two enormous gates and quickly figure out these folks are part of a cult. Their leader is the charismatic Brother Michael. The man denies any knowledge of the virus and offers them a place to stay for the night. In Julia's timeline, she mentions Alan to Caleb, who recognizes the name right away. She asks if he can take her to him. "I can, but you might not like what you find" Caleb tells her. Caleb leads her to the dilapidated abbey belonging to Brother Michael in the past. There Julia kneels in front of a tombstone with Alan Farragut's name on it. In the CDC's timeline, Alan (clothed like a monk) brings Sarah some food and water. As Alan walks down the hallway, screams are heard. Brother Michael's "sisters" appear to be torturing or infecting a poor woman.
