Ellen overhears Duncan on the phone to his daughter, and the information she gains from the call leads her to launch her own covert investigation into her captor and what makes him tick, discovering his ailing wife is in the hospital when she visits his daughter’s art fair.

Duncan is the target of an assassination apparently ordered by the Quinton, and confronts him with an assassination threat of his own.

Duncan tells Ellen she must convince the President to keep her on as his surgeon, which she does successfully.
