As the episode opens, we see Ted and a very pregnant mother. Back to the night before the wedding, Marshall and Lily agree not to fight until after everyone has gone to bed, so Marshall does all he can to make the night go as late as possible. Eventually they retire to their bedroom, but Lily wants to have sex before they discuss Marshall's new job. Back downstairs, Barney reached a new level of drunkenness where he tells nothing but the truth. Robin and Ted take this opportunity to answer some long standing questions they have had. Marshall and Lily finally discuss Marshall's decision to take the new job without first discussing it with Lily. Marshall brings up something from their past that upsets Lily so much she leaves. We then see Ted and the mother leaving the Farhampton Inn on the way to the hospital carrying their little daughter Penny.
