Ted says his goodbyes and heads to the train station to leave for Chicago, where he meets Tracy, the mother. He decides to stay in New York.

Ted and Tracy postpone their wedding when they find out she's pregnant. They later have a second child, still unmarried.

Three years later, Robin and Barney are miserable because she's traveling all over the world for her job. They decide to divorce. Their friends are devastated. 

Lily is pregnant with their third child.
