Huge Ratings for Hung

Ray Drecker's penis isn't the only thing that's big about Hung.

The series premiere of the HBO series delivered 2.8 million viewers in its 10 p.m. timeslot Sunday; combined with its midnight replay, the show drew 3.7 million viewers.

Those figures make Hung - a light-hearted drama about a depressed high school coach who becomes a gigolo - the highest-rated HBO premiere since John From Cincinnati.

Call Boy

Undoubtedly helping Hung's cause was the major ratings garnered these days by True Blood, which preceded the new show.

Sunday's installment was the series most-watched ever, bringing in 3.7 million viewers in its 9 p.m. timeslot, and 5.1 million overall.

Help Market Hung, Win $10,000!

Hung is an upcoming series on HBO about a down-and-out, middle-aged guy that becomes gigolo.

Ready, set... market!

For the first time in its history, HBO will use Facebook as a platform to enlist users in the marketing campaign of a show.

“Our strategy was to focus on the more unexpected aspects of the story,” said Chris Spadaccini, vice president of advertising and promotion. “Ray [played by Thomas Jane] is becoming a male gigolo because he has to, not because he wants. And we really wanted the audience to empathize with this man who is willing to do whatever it takes to turn his life around.”

With that in mind, the network will launch a "Pimp Ray" Facebook contest. Fans will be asked to create their own ads to help Ray build his client base; the best, as voted on by the Facebook community, wins $10,000.

The initiative will go live June 29, a day after the Hung premiere.

“It’s definitely going to involve some creativity on the part of the consumer,” said Spadaccini. “There will be filters as far as what you can and cannot say. So the consumer is going to have to be creative with copy and use innuendo to get their point across.”

Gregg Henry Joins the Cast of Hung

On Hung, HBO's upcoming dark comedy, Patrick Jane stars as Ray Drecker, a lonely, bored middle-aged man that coaches a high school basketball team.

But at least he won't be coaching alone!

Gregg Henry (pictured) has joined the cast. He'll portray Mike, an assistant coach on the squad.

Hung, which is based on Drecker's large penis and endeavors as a male prostitute, premieres on June 28.

On June 28, HBO viewers will get Hung.

Patrick Jane stars in the series, which focuses on Ray Drecker, a high school basketball coach whose life is going downhill quickly. Divorced and pretty much homeless after his home burns down, Ray chooses to take advantage of his giant penis.

He becomes a male prostitute.

While the following photos don't reveal Drecker's impressive stature below the belt, they do give readers an early look at him in the Hung series premiere. Click on each to enlarge...

Coming to HBO: Hung

It doesn't premiere until June 28, but we're already hung up on Hung.

The new HBO comedy stars Patrick Jane as a high school teacher whose life hasn't been going well recently: his wife of 20 years left him for their dermatologist; his kids moved in with this new couple; and his home basically just burned down.

What's a lowly, well-endowed basketball coach to do? Become a male escort, of course!
