Stanley Vaughn, a repeat offender looking to invest in gold, turns to robbing banks for startup capital.  

The robberies send detectives Morales and Jaruszalski down a leg breaking path ridden with explosives.

However, much of the action takes place in the courtroom, where Deputy D.A. Dekker brings the three strike law into question along with District Attorney Jerry Hardin‘s idea of justice.
