Lost Recap: "Some Like it Hoth"

While light on island mythology, this episode of Lost was heavy on Miles. Considering the mysterious, entertaining character he's grown into, this was far from a bad thing.

How did Miles end up on the island? Which important individual in the Dharma Initiative is he related to? And how does Empire Strikes Back fit into all this?

Our recap of "Some Like it Hoth" reveals all the answers.

While the show isn't exactly known for its humor, last night did provide a few funny and/or memorable Lost quotes. To it:

Hurley: The Ewoks sucked. | permalink
Dr. Pierre Chang: Miles, I need you.
Miles: You do? | permalink
Miles: Third day we were here I was on line at the cafeteria and my mother got on line behind me. | permalink

Lost Spoilers: Why Miles Blackmailed Ben

Do you remember when Miles blackmailed, - err, tried to extort - Ben for $3.2 million dollars during Lost's fourth season?

Okay, we know it was awhile ago, but Miles offered to pretend like Ben was dead in exchange for a cool $3.2 million.

Why the arbitrary amount And why would the blackmail at all?

According to TV Guide, we're gonna find out why, as a dollar amount other than the $3.2 million is brought up in tonight's Miles-centric episode, "Some Like it Hoth."

Got any guesses before the hour airs, readers?

Lost Spoilers: "The Variable"

After tomorrow night's new episode of Lost, "Some Like it Hoth," Lost will be going on another week long break (despite their promises not to!).  To help ease the pain of that news, we have some Lost spoilers about the April 29th episode.

The episode will be entitled "The Variable" and it will be the 100th episode of the series.  According to E! Online, the episode will see the return of Mrs. Hawking, Daniel Faraday, Penny, Charles Widmore, and Charlie Hume.

Faraday

As for the variable for the title, it will tie back to the equations Locke saw on the blast-door map in season two.  Things we learned from the door included "Geological composition likely to cause magnetic disturbances/interference with weather project," "Primary nexus of Cerberus-related activity" and the Valenzetti equation.

We've seen enough flashbacks of the various humans on the show.  It's time to give the Island's very own smoke monster a flashback.

Lost Spoilers: "Getting Lost 10"

In the tenth installment of Getting Lost with Matt Mitovich, Matt talks to Michael Emerson about the perception-changing events that occurred during "Dead is Dead."  Emerson even teases us on what to expect about future Ben moments.

Mitovich also talks to Marsha Thomason who will be reprising her role as Naomi in next week's episode, "Some Like it Hoth."  She confirms how Naomi will be back in a flashback with Miles.

Finally, Matt provides a very well thought out theory as to last week's burning question, "What happened to Rose and Bernard" that we're going to make you watch to hear:

Lost Spoilers: Miles' Backstory

Next week's episode of Lost, "Some Like it Hoth," is going to reveal Miles' backstory.  What exactly will that entail?

According to E! Online's Lost Redux, we're going to learn why Miles was really on the freighter.  That also means there's going to be a return of the bossy freighter babe, Naomi (Marsha Thomason).

Additionally, we're going to find out how and if Miles has been on the Island before.  Very interesting indeed.

Lost Recap: "Dead is Dead"

We read all the Lost spoilers about last night's episode, Ben vs. The Smoke Monster (a.k.a. "Dead is Dead"). But nothing quite prepared us for the climactic scenes at the end.

From the moment Ben awoke on the island, terrified to see a living John Locke, we were once again left wondering what his motives actually are, and if he's lying 100 percent of the time or merely 50. One thing was undisputed - he came back to the island to be judged.

The entity doling out justice? The black smoke. Which Locke somehow knew just where to find and Ben did not. And you wouldn't believe what happened when they did.

Interspersed throughout where past highlights of Ben's life on the island, shedding light on his feud with Charles Widmore and how exactly the latter came to be banned.

Michael Emerson (below) and Terry O'Quinn should share this year's Supporting Actor Emmy. Every second of the interplay between Ben and Locke is nuanced and terrific.
