Lucifer and Amenadiel show up at a jewelry heist thinking that the leader is their mother in disguise. Turns out they were wrong again and are at wits end. Before Lucifer leaves he "punishes" the leader by leaving him naked and with a tiara on his head.

Lucifer is talking to Dr. Martin about his failure to find his mom. He tells her the story of what happened when he and his mom were cast out of heaven.

Chloe and Lucifer are on a case involving the murder of a stand-in actress. Because, the deceased (Jillian) had stakes sticking out of her head to make her look like the devil, Lucifer thinks it's a message from his mom. Chloe tells Lucifer she has a blood sample and is going to test it because she doesn't understand how he survived Malcolm's point blank shot.

Ella Lopez, the new pathologist is on the scene too. Dan shows up and tells Chloe that reinstated, but demoted. He's not assisting with the case.

Lucifer introduces himself to Ella and she tells him she thinks the real Lucifer got a bad rap. She gets a little freaked out when Lucifer starts talking in the first person and thinks he's a method actor which she doesn't like.

Chloe and Lucifer question Jillian's landlord. They find money under a cushion and think that maybe Jillian was blackmailing the star, Amy who has a drug problem.

Lucifer still thinks it all has to do with his mother, and Chloe looks at him like he's crazy, yet she still has patience.

Amenadiel is at the Lux when Lucifer returns. He's afraid of mom too and the two discuss whether Maze had something to do with her escape. Lucifer doesn't think and then tells Amenadiel about Chloe testing his blood. Amenadiel isn't happy about it and leaves to fix it.

Dan shares information with Chloe that points to Jillian blackmailing Amy. Lucifer visits Amy thinking that his mom is in her. Amy is snorting coke and has no idea what he's talking about. Then she jumps him and has him on the couch when Chloe comes in. Chloe questions Amy about the cash, but Amy tells them Jillian was her stay sober friend. She gives them her stash of drugs which has a devil symbol on it and the number of the guy which is the only thing she knows about him.

Amenadiel shows up at the police station and uses his freezing power so he can go into Chloe's desk and get the blood sample, but it only works for a short time and not long enough for him to get it. He's surprised and caught by another officer, so he leaves.

At Dr. Linda's office, Lucifer is blaming everyone for his predicament. Then she wonders if her session are really beneficial to him.

Amenadiel gets Chloe to come to the Lux and offers her evidence that Lucifer is not who he says he is. Chloe almost believes it. but not quite.

Lucifer and Chloe are at an AA meeting and find the drug dealer. He's taken in for questioning but turns out he didn't kill Jillian. He tells them Amy had another drug dealer so they hunt down that lead.

Someone tries to kill Lucifer at the Lux, but Maze steps in. He wants to know where she's been. They have the guy tied up. It's Amy's boyfriend. Maze tells Lucifer she needed space and is surprised to learn Lucifer's mom escaped hell.

The boyfriend tells them about another drug dealer named Bobbi B. Lucifer leaves to follow the lead which Maze is not happy about. He gets to the station where Chloe shares the same information except she doesn't know the name so she's searching through records. He figures out Bobbi B is Jillian's landlord and leaves. He's not happy.

Amenadiel shows up at the Lux where he finds Maze. She tells him she needs space. He understands. The attraction is still there, though.

Chloe asks Ella about God and something Chloe says triggers Ella to realize the stakes came from a rose garden. Chloe figures it out about Bobbi and heads over to her house. Lucifer is already there accusing Bobbi. The woman takes a swing at Lucifer with a fireplace poker and it actually hurts Lucifer. She's about to choke him to death when Chloe gets in and saves the day.

Lucifer tells Dr. Martin he knows he's to blame for his mother. She doesn't think he's coming to kill him and that terrifies him.

He goes back to the Lux and plays Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower on the piano. As he sings, we see a montage:

Chloe throws the blood sample away.

Amenadiel lost his powers.

Maze meets up with Dr. Martin.

Chloe and Dan share a look.

Lucifer finishes up when someone comes up the elevator. It's mum.
