In Major Crimes Season 4 Episode 2, the detectives watch the cops pursue a psychiatrist--or at least, his car. The car chase comes to an abrupt end when the psychiatrist rolls out of his car, dead. Their investigation leads them in several directions, as they meet the psychiatrist's much younger wife, the wife of the suspected killer, and several other people of interest. The detectives' investigation becomes very personal for Sanchez, who seems to be having a hard time getting back into his work and is refusing to talk to Flynn. Sanchez seems to be leaning towards quitting, and nobody knows what's going on with him.

While the detectives are trying to figure out exactly who killed the psychiatrist and why, Rusty embarks on an investigation of his own. His interest in Alice Herrara, the Jane Doe killed last season, leads him to review the tapes of the killer's interviews as well as Alice's personal effects. A discussion with the killer himself at the jail may change Rusty's life forever.
