Major Crimes Season 4 Episode 14 revolves around both a murder and a personal crisis. On the day before Thanksgiving, the detectives are called to the Palmers' front yard, where Tom Palmer has been beaten to death. They don't understand why this is a Major Crimes case at all until it's explained that Mr. Palmer had a fight with someone after cutting him off in traffic the other day. Palmer's wife is inside the house, seemingly in shock. She wants to make Thanksgiving dinner. Sykes gets her to walk off.

The detectives feel bad for Mrs. Palmer, except for Provenza, who wants the case solved quickly so that he can enjoy his Thanksgiving ham. Their investigation quickly leads to Jordan Garcia, who they all expect to be the killer -- except Jordan is a woman who has no signs of having been in a fight. It turns out that Jordan's fiance Sam, who she lied about the existence of, beat up Tom Palmer, and that Jordan was having problems with Tom at work. Sam is arrested for the assault and then Sharon realizes something.

While the detectives are busy with the case, Flynn falls in the bathroom, leaving a panicked Rusty to call 911. on his behalf. Flynn is taken to St. Leos, where it turns out he didn't have a stroke but his blood clot migrated to closer to his brain, requiring surgery.
