Bill and Virginia adjust to their new working relationship. Bill begins working with his new associate, Nancy. After watching their clients engage in sex, Bill has them both reveal their sexual history. However, Bill doesn't reveal his personal relationship with Virginia. Bill is saddened to see his son not want to be around him. When Bill tries to apologize to Libby for hurting her, she finally admits the affairs she has while he was sleeping with Virginia. Bill is shocked but realizes he has no right.

Virginia refuses to admit to anyone that she and Dan never got married. Betty knows Virginia is lying but won't reveal anything. Virginia interviews various candidates for her new associates. She meets with someone Nancy recommended, her family friend Art. Virginia seems not interested in hiring Art. Instead, she sees her former therapist, Dr. Madden. Virginia wants him to work with her, but he doesn't want to cross professional boundaries. After a lot of drinking, Virginia takes him to bed and throws his ethics right back in his face, hurting him. Virginia goes home and finds that Tessa is going to live with her father. After hiring Art as her new associate, it is revealed to the audience that Nancy and Art are actually a couple, but they are hiding their relationship from Bill and Virginia.
