Zooey Deschanel plays Jess on New Girl, a recently dumped, Liz Lemon-like young woman who moves in with three guys.
She spends the first week with them crying and watching Dirty Dancing, but is eventually convinced to go out and try for some rebound sex. That plan doesn't go too well, as Jess is eventually stood up after making a date with a guy, but her three new pals come to her rescue, meet her at a restaurant and make it clear they care about Jess.
The three men are: Schmidt, who tries way too hard to be cool; Coach, a personal trainer who doesn't really know how to talk to women; and and Nick, the sensitive, normal one who is having trouble moving on from his ex and who gets along best with Jess.
Jess also has a model for a BFF.
