Dr. O'Hara to Be Featured on Nurse Jackie

So far, on Nurse Jackie, viewers have fallen in love with Edie Falco as Jackie and Merritt Wever as Zoey.

However, over the next handful of episodes, the Showtime hit will shine a spotlight on another staff member of of All-Saints Hospital: Eve Best's Dr. O'Hara.

According to E! Online, the icy doctor's life isn't as carefree as her nonchalant manner would have fans believe. Why is she seemingly so uncaring toward, well, everyone? Look for a personal crisis to be revealed, one that provides Best with incredible material.

Among our favorite Nurse Jackie quotes from the episode...

Jackie: (voice-over) Look at that. It's supposed to be Florida. Who draws Florida with no sun? It's the goddamn Sunshine State! | permalink
Jackie: Okay, it's very simple. Everything they tell you, you type in their file, whatever they don't tell you, but you know to be true, type in their file. | permalink
Zoey: Nights are different.
Jackie: Yes. More stab wounds, more drunks, less nutjobs, less children. Okay, you prioritize by condition. Gunshots, stabbings, cardiac arrest followed by bleeders and shallow breathers.
Zoey: Shallow breathers. Got it. What about someone who can't breath at all.
Jackie: They are already dead. They go to the waiting room. | permalink

Nurse Jackie Spoilers: More of Dr. Cooper

On Nurse Jackie, Peter Facinelli's character, Dr. Cooper, has a unique trait: sexual Tourette's syndrome.

When nervous, he grabs his co-worker's breasts.

According to E! Online, this is a real condition. The show won't overdo its use, however, as the entertainment site reports that Coop won't fondle Jackie again until episode five.

Nurse Jackie Recap: Series Premiere

Edie Falco deserves a ton of credit for this fact alone:

Within 90 seconds of last night's Nurse Jackie premiere, we totally forgot about Carmella Soprano.

It may have been the short hair, but it was also definitely Falco's performance that instantly introduced us to Jackie Peyton, a personally troubled (but professionally successful) nurse at a New York City hospital.

Throughout the first half hour of this series, we learned a great deal about Jackie and those around her.

Edie Falco Speaks on Nurse Jackie, Character

Edie Falco makes her return to television tonight on the series premiere of Nurse Jackie.

During a recent interview with Alan Sepinwall of The Newark Star-Ledger, the actress spoke on her new character, as well as the transition from The Sopranos to another (hopeful) cable hit:

Do you feel like you have a comfort level with Jackie yet?
I'm getting there. There's still a great deal with her that I'm discovering. Every time I got a script I said, "Really? Wow. Okay, let's follow this one." Pieces of the storyline that were just fascinating. I loved the opportunity to discover what that would feel like on the inside. Same thing as "Sopranos" -- the more you go along, the more you're going to feel comfortable in that skin. But I'm certainly not there yet. If we're lucky, we'll get a chance to learn more, but who knows?

What's the ratio is of comedy to drama on the show?
I don't know. I signed on to it when it was a drama. The first version that I read was certainly dark -- too dark, which is one of the reasons I wasn't ready to go with it completely. Then Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius got ahold of it as writers, and it morphed into something Showtime was more interested in grabbing hold of. But it's hard to say, ratio-wise, because it all feels of a piece.

It feels like the people's relationships with each other are pretty funny, the situations are pretty funny. Though it's an emergency room, it is Manhattan, and people come into emergency rooms for funny reasons. I would tend to think it's in a similar ratio to "Sopranos." Although the humor is certainly different on a million levels.
