-In the fairy tale world, Regina saved a young Snow White from a runaway horse prompting a marriage proposal from the King. Although her mother, Cora was delighted, Regina wanted to marry her true love, Daniel, the stable boy.

-Snow White stumbled across Regina's secret but promised not to tell a soul but Cora manipulated Snow into telling her all. Cora then confronted Regina and Daniel and tore Daniel's heart out, literally.

-A heartbroken Regina prepared to marry the King and found out about Snow's betrayal, thus hating the little girl forever.

-In Storybrooke, Emma and August find a broken shovel piece where the box carrying Kathryn's heart was found.  They track the shovel back to Regina but by the time Emma gets a warrant, the shovel is gone.

-Emma accuses August of betraying her but later realizes that Sidney bugged her office.

-As Emma laments Mary Margaret's trial, Mr. Gold promises her that he will work his magic. Shortly after, a disheveled looking Kathryn turns up in town.
