Past Life: Canceled by Fox

Past Life is now a show of the past.

The critically-lambasted drama drew only 3.5 million viewers last night and has been canceled by Fox after four episodes.

The network will air three episodes of Kitchen Nightmares in the time slot over the next three weeks; with Bones and Fringe reruns taking over on March 18, and original installments of those shows returning April 1.

Look closer. Your ratings are there someplace!

Past Life Review: "Soul Music"

This show keeps getting better and better!

This week on Past life, two star crossed lovers had to overcome their tragic past to find each other. On Soul Music, someone doesn’t survive their regression therapy.

Kate and her team try unsuccessfully to help Jenny and Kevin. We must say that if one of the patients dies at the end, then the whole case must be considered a failure!

As a romantic at heart, this episode was bitter sweet to me, sort of like Romeo and Juliet in a distorted way. Kevin and Jenny’s souls reconnect time and time again, to act out crimes that eventually result in their death. What a depressing love story!

At the end of the show, Kevin losing his life and is shot by the police. This show isn’t there to just let you have the happy ending. It makes the plot more believable, because in real life there isn’t always a happy ending.

Throughout their entire investigation, Kate remained confident in her abilities to solve the case. When Kevin died at the end, you see how heartbroken she is. The writers did an excellent job making you feel her pain.

Am I the only one that noticed the way Price looks at Kate? I really feel these two are going to have some sort of relationship. Price even comments about Kate’s dress! There is definite sexual tension brewing between these two.

Price feels compelled to check in on Kate after Kevin’s death. Apparently he already must have feelings for her, or why else would he care so much?

Overall, Past Life is an entertaining show that deals with reincarnation and past life regressions. It is the first of its kind, one that we see being around for a long time to come.

We recommend that if you haven’t already watched this exciting show, you make sure to catch it next week. You will not be disappointed!

Past Life Review: "Dead Man Talking"

We just LOVE Fox’s new show Past Life!

An innocent man is set free using the regressions of an addict, on this week’s installment Dead Man Talking. This episode has really set the bar high, making Past Life a definite contender in becoming one of the best shows on TV! We are totally hooked!!!

We enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster of following an innocent man, who was unfairly convicted of a murder he did not commit. At one point, there seemed to be no doubt his end was near. Fredric even ordered his last meal.

There were actual tears in my eyes when Fredric Lamm was released from jail! The heartfelt reunion with his family has made me a fan in this show. We hope all future episodes can fill last night’s big shoes.

A young girl, Corrine, was able to use a past life experience to help free Fredric. Her addiction to drugs was simply the result of living with these terrible regressions. And you think you have it bad!

The show really knows how to tug at your heart strings. The writers did an impressive job, making you empathetic to Corrine’s struggles! She had to battle an addiction and deal with past life visions, all while trying to raise her younger sister. What a mess!

We also learned that Price might be battling his own demons, those found down an empty bottle. He is apparently still grieving for his dead wife. Can you really blame the guy? We think he’ll eventually come around and find a better way to deal with his problems. Hey, he’s found a great calling in helping Kate solve these old crimes!

Again, we really can’t praise this week’s episode enough! If you still haven’t watched Past Life, we recommend that you do! Totally worth your time!!!

Past Life Review: Pilot Episode

We were impressed by the new Fox show Past Life. On this week’s pilot episode, Kate and Price solve an old murder and abduction case involving two missing girls. They are able to use a young boy’s past life experiences to help solve a murder and find a missing girl.

We love the premise of this show. Reincarnation used to help bring a murderer to justice. What an awesome concept! Justice for the dead… in such a radical and exciting way! I just hope there isn’t someone in my head waiting for help!!!

Have to admit, the visions of Rachel’s murder were a bit on the creepy side and hard to watch. Poor Noah, having to live out being murdered over and over… like you don’t have enough to deal with as a teenager!

Thankfully Kate and detective Price are there to help. Kate is not your average psychologist; she is one that believes in using these past life experiences to solve crimes. She is a believer, of all that might be unexplainable.

We wonder what Kate’s personal involvement might be towards reincarnation. Why has she dedicated her life to solve crimes using past life experiences? This is not your typical way to fight crime.

Her partner, Price, on the other hand is a straight shooter. He might be a bit superstitious, but has made his feeling perfectly clear about reincarnation. He is the nonbeliever in the equation. After solving their first crime together, we see that he might to begin to doubt his own belief system.

We also learned that Price has recently lost his wife tragically. We guess this personal loss has been part of the reason he has trouble believing in reincarnation. After the death of a loved one people have the tendency to close off, not wanting to believe in anything spiritual.

The pilot episode was highly entertaining. We look forward to learning more about our main characters and also these so called past life experiences used to solve crime. We see a bright future for this new Fox show!

Past Life Preview: Pilot Episode

The terrible news for Fox viewers: Fringe is on hiatus until April 1. This is especially upsetting considering the incredible cliffhanger that ended last night's episode.

But there is a silver lining: the network will air a promising new show in its place, Past Life.

The drama actually premieres on Tuesday, February 9 at 9 p.m. It will then take over the typical Fringe slot on Thursdays.

On the 2/9 pilot episode, we meet Dr. Kate McGinn and her partner, former detective Price Whatley. They team up to assist Noah, a boy who suffers repressed memories from... wait for it... a past life!

Fox Plans Major Past Life Rollout

Fox is planning a major launch of its new sci-fi series Past Life.

The drama - which stars Kelli Giddish, Nicholas Bishop, Ravi Patel and Richard Schiff and combines basic mystery-solving with the concept of reincarnation - will air four new episodes over a 10-day stretch.

It will premiere after American Idol on February 9; move to Thursdays at 9 p.m. that same week - and then repeat the Tuesday/Thursday new episode pairing the following week.

The first batch of season one episodes will wrap up on March 11. Fringe will then return to its regular time slot on March 18.

Follow all that? Past Life does have a promising pedigree: David Hudgins, who worked on Friday Night Lights, will serve as executive producer.

Past Life: Coming to Fox

All networks have an identity.

CBS owns the procedural; ABC specializes in the sex-themed dramedy (as evidenced by its upcoming Grey's Anatomy rip-off The Deep End); Fox has cornered the market on the mysterious; and NBC might as well not exist.

Fox's Thursday night programming best exemplifies this theme, as Fringe and Bones make for the perfect back-to-back combination. But what happens when you take the paranormal of the latter and mix it with the invetigative nature of the former?

Past Life.

This new Fox drama premieres with a two-hour episode on February 11 and focuses on the team of Dr. Kate McGinn (Kelli Giddish), a psychologist that believes in reincarnation; and Price Whatley (Nicholas Bishop), a former detective that's grieving over the death of his wife.
