A Judge's life is in danger believing that an unmedicated paranoid schizophrenic wants to kill her.

Kate Moretti takes up the case hoping to prove herself to her new boss.

Daniel Pierce discovers instead that he only wants to protect her, but after the Judge is stabbed to death, the schizophrenic is the prime suspect.

Daniel is able to bring him in and gets him on medication.

Pierce and Kate Moretti learn that the Judge's husband had made a deal with the Irish mob. In turn, the Irish mob wanted to kill her and frame the murder on the schizophrenic.

Pierce tells Max Lewicki to order him medicine, but he decides to not take it.
