Unexpected pairings were the focus of tonight’s episode of Pretty Little Liars.
After deciphering the message she received from Toby as “214,” Spencer finds out that the charges against Toby will be dropped due to corruption of the blood evidence found on his sweater. Despite Jenna’s offer to take him to remove his ankle-monitoring device, Toby opts to ride with Spencer and reveals that Jenna has been speaking to a mysterious person on the phone about Spencer and her friends.
Ezra meets Ari’s father, Byron, in a parent-teacher conference; but, her father is extremely hostile because he believes that there is something romantic going on between his wife Ella and the English teacher. Once Aria informs him that he is wrong, he tries to make peace with Ezra.
Hanna continues to hide Caleb in her basement without her mom’s knowledge, and he comes in handy when he points out that supposed relative of the deceased Mrs. Potter is really just a con-man trying to steal her money. The two grow closer and almost share a kiss.
Paige’s father tries to cause trouble for Emily at the school, blaming her spot on the relay team as an example of a “liberal” agenda because of her lesbianism. Emily’s mom finally stands up for her daughter and makes Paige’s father back down. Then Paige apologizes for her father’s behavior and kisses a surprised Emily.
