On the premiere of Prime Suspect, Jane Timoney is forced to continually be last on the lead detective board because her team doesn’t like her, but when one of their own dies of a heart attack, she is finally given lead status.

Wasting no time Jane goes over all of the clues and connects the murder of a mother to a string of murders and rapes around New York City and in the process throws out the work of the previous lead detective.

Jane is able to catch the suspect.

Meanwhile, at home, Jane is forced to deal with her boyfriend’s neurotic ex just so his son can spend a few nights with them.
