Our official Private Practice review broke down last week's "Too Much," in detail. Now, TVF staff writers Christina Tran and Carissa Pavlica join newcomers Caitlyn Castro and Jarrod Mitchell for a Round Table Q&A.

1. What was your favorite scene or quote from the episode?

Caitlyn: Favorite scene goes to when Charlotte found Mason. I just loved how raw the emotions were from Mason and what we saw from Charlotte. I'm not the biggest fan of this story arc but that scene really made me appreciate Mason entering their lives.

Jarrod: Jake to Addison: “When you’re ready to be more serious, you let me know.” I’m glad he’s finally stepped up to the plate and gotten it out there because it looks to be that Addison is blinded by the fact he does have feelings for her.

Carissa: Charlotte not losing her cool with Mason. She's always been a favorite, but I think how well she has handled this entire situation is nothing short of amazing.

Christina: I’m with the girls on this one. Charlotte was spectacular with Mason.

2. What did you not like about this episode?

Caitlyn: The return of Sam and Addison AGAIN. Seriously, it's enough. Addison acknowledges that nothing has changed so why even go there again?

Jarrod: It would have to either the ENTIRE Mason-Erica-Cooper-Charlotte show or the Pete-Violet “I care, but you know, I don’t want to be with you”. However, I’m glad Pete said to Violet: “You don’t have to interrupt my feelings, Violet.” I’m sick of her telling people how they feel. One of many reasons why my VAS high this week.

Carissa: Addison falling back into Sam's arms. I'm done with them.

Christina: Can I name more than one? I listed out all of my dislikes in my review, but my least favorite was definitely Addie’s decision to sleep with Sam.

3. Does Mason have super powers? Otherwise, how else did he get that far when Charlotte was only gone merely a few seconds?

Caitlyn: I felt like Mason had a moment of the Flash as well! I didn't even think he'd make it out of the apartment building's block before Charlotte would get to him and there he was god knows where.

Jarrod: To be honest, I don’t like Mason, but he’s a scared child who doesn’t know what has happened to his mother and I’m pretty sure any child would probably do that if they’re stuck with someone else (who to them) is probably trying to replace their mother - the one significant person in their life.

Carissa: Yes, all children have superpowers.

Christina: LOL @Carissa! I’m thinking that Mason should consider track or something.

4. What was more surprising: Addie ending up in Sam's bed AGAIN or Jake hinting his possible feelings?

Caitlyn: Jake's hint of feelings! We all know that Addison's been desperately missing Sam and sex lately so it was predictable that Sam's vulnerable state would force something between the two of them again. But the way Jake threw hints along the episode was great. I felt like he was pointing out his feelings while consequently reminding Addison that Sam selfishly doesn't support her plans to have a baby. He really does look out for her well-being!

Jarrod: I wasn’t really surprised about Addison jumping Sam’s bones. On the contrary, I’ve been expecting the post-break-up-sex. Jake revealing his feelings on the other hand was indeed shocking. I’m glad he has, but the way he did it was heartbreaking. He looked heartbroken after realizing that Addison had slept with Sam. Although, I still have hope for Jaddison!

Carissa: Neither was a surprise, but I want Jake and Addie to make a go of it, so I'm disappointed that Sam was another bump in the road.

Christina: The reprise of AddiSam, for sure. I was surprised and frustrated that Addie would even go down that that road again.

5. Share one prediction for next week's crossover episode with Grey's Anatomy.

Caitlyn: Erica will survive surgery. It might make more sense for her to die and leave Mason in Charlotte and Cooper's care, but it'd be too predictable. Plus, they really built a lot on Mason's point of view and how he handles the situation so I think they'll be protecting the poor kid from that kind of heartbreak.

Jarrod: My prediction is that Amelia’s drug slip will most likely come up, causing a little tension between Derek and Amelia in the OR. My hope is that Erica doesn’t survive the surgery. I want this storyline to vanish. 12 episodes are more than enough for me. I can’t imagine the pain if it lasts for the rest of the season.

Carissa: That McDreamy is going to behave like a complete ass with a God complex and overlook everything Amelia has gone through and ignore the fact he didn't even bother to show up when she was at her worst.

Christina: There will be too much drama for your mama in the OR. Ultimately, Erica will survive. Then, little Mason will want to ride the ferry boat.

Private Practice Interview: AJ Langer on Visit to Seattle Grace, Erica's "Terrified" State

She's waiting until she can get it together, so she can share the news with Mason from a strong place. But what if she can't ever get there? That's terrifying.

So AJ Langer just told me over the phone, summing up her character's state of mind on Private Practice these days and responding to viewers who have criticized Erica for not telling Mason about her brain cancer.

"She's doing her best with everything she has," the actress said, explaining how she's spoken to friends and relatives that have suffered through the disease and how she's done extensive research online. "When you're talking to somebody really going through this, it doesn't take long to feel the empathy you need to get under their skin for a moment."

Langer said she had no idea a trip to Seattle Grace was on tap when she first signed on for Private Practice, thinking she'd only appear on three episodes. But we'll see her interact with Derek and Lexie on Thursday, accompanied by Charlotte, Cooper and Mason.

"Erica hopes the treatment works," Langer said. "But she's only focused on Mason, she's pre-occupied by his reaction to everything."

Many fans, of course, have questioned some of Erica's actions over the past few episodes, most recently asking: how could she get behind the wheel with a brain tumor?!?

But, again, Langer has done the research. She's talked to those battling various forms of cancer. She understands how "the levels of denials you go through are a very real thing."

"There isn't a way to really judge what's been going on," said the actress. "She's trying to stay positive, to stay focused, to stay grounded. She might not always do things to quote-unquote right way, but I have no doubt she possesses the purest of hearts."

Will Erica make it through this struggle? Will Coop and Charlotte end up with Mason? Langer wouldn't say, likely because she doesn't even know, only receiving a script a couple days prior to shooting each episode.

Like the character she's playing, it's clear Langer's focus has been less on the future anyway and more on the important present.

"Erica really had to be fully developed in order to respect the reality of this kind of diagnosis," she said. "I hope I accomplished that goal."

Grey's Anatomy to Meet Private Practice: Crossover Event Promo!

Grey's Anatomy celebrated Valentine's Day last night, while Private Practice introduced viewers to Sam's troubled sister.

Next Thursday, though, both these Shonda Rhimes creations will come together once again, as the latest crossover event will feature Amelia arriving at Seattle Grace to beg her brother to help save Erica's life. SPOILER ALERT: Derek accepts the mission.

Grey's fans can also look forward to Cristina and Owen undergoing marriage counseling, while the residents continue to study for their boards; and Private Practice viewers should expect Scott to try and take his relationship with Violet to the next level.

Private Practice Review: Just a Little Too Much

"Too Much" was appropriately named, as a heckuva lot happened during an especially intense Private Practice episode.

This week’s medical case focused on the baby of a recovering drug addict. It was a touching story, depicted well by both a remorseful parent and unforgiving daughter. Like always, Private Practice’s professional arcs make it difficult to decide what the right solution is.

Luckily, Addie saved the day (as usual) and the doctors came to what seemed to be the best decision in giving the mother a second chance to be a mom to both of her children. Sometimes a second chance is all someone needs.

Meanwhile, bratty Mason didn’t care too much for Charlotte’s mac and cheese. Although it was understandable he was acting out simply because he couldn’t be with his mom, I couldn’t help but feel for Charlotte and wonder when she and Cooper would catch a break.

Plus, who seriously turns down mac and cheese and dumps it on the ground?!? It’s only the best comfort food ever.

When Charlotte found Mason, she handled the situation perfectly well. Without getting incredibly upset and trying to stay calm, she was there for Mason when neither of his parents could be. I also thought that Charlotte was right in trying to convince Erica again that she must tell her son what’s going on before it’s too late.

Though heartbreaking, all of the scenes involving Erica’s case got me thinking only one thing: I am so stoked about next week’s crossover event with Grey’s Anatomy. How about you?

There were a number of things I didn’t care too much for throughout this installment, though.

First, I was definitely disappointed in Addison’s choice to take a few steps back and land in Sam’s bed. Seriously, what was she thinking? We’ve discussed this number of times before, but Sam has clearly stated he doesn’t want to be a father and all she’s ever wanted is to be a mother. These two things are never going to add up. Like Jake said, she should have kept her distance. Whether you’re a fan of Jake’s or not, you have to admit that he was right about that. Sam and Addie’s hook up will only get in the way of what she has always wanted. Do you agree or do you think things could be different if they had another shot?

Another part I didn’t care too much for was Sam’s storyline concerning his sister. Maybe it’ll take some time, but there was just so much more going on; this could have been told at a later point in time. Fortunately, Sheldon is helping to treat Sam’s sibling and will be able to find out exactly what’s going on with her.

Finally, I am rating this episode a 3.5 on the Violet Annoyance Scale (VAS). It’s great that she’s doing her own thing with Hot Scott and trying to be happy, but I thought Pete made a valid argument about how it wasn’t cool that she was messing around at the workplace with Scott, knowing that Pete was there as well.

Sure, he’s been a jerk and could have been an actual adult and told her how he really felt, but Violet should also have known to respect the sanctity of the workplace. Also, I laughed when she tried to analyze what Pete meant when he said he cared. These two need to stay on a permanent break. So as long as they continue to be great parents to Lucas, I much prefer them apart. One more thing: So, Scott’s just a fling to her, but how would Scott feel if he knew this? If the roles were reversed, I’m thinking I’d see some varying responses.

With numerous storylines intertwining involving our Seaside Wellness doctors, I felt like this installment was a bit subpar. It was decent, but in comparison to what we’ve seen all season long, it just fell short from being anything but stellar.

What was your favorite scene or quote from the episode?

Caitlyn: Favorite scene definitely goes to Jake and Addison in the hotel room. And coincidentally, my favorite quotes are from there, too! For example: "Was it the eating? Was it all the eating? Did it freak you out?" and of course the "Is it because you saw my vagina in a medical way?"

Jarrod: As much as I do enjoy my Jaddison moments, I’m going to say the fight between Violet and Pete. Her words: “I practically begged you to stop me from walking out that door, but you didn’t. You didn’t do a damn thing. You let me go, and now you have the audacity, you have to go and tell me I can’t see somebody else?” Honestly, I’m praising Violet to actually never go back to Pete again.

Carissa: Addison flopped on the bed all drunk and embarrassed. I love to see nearly perfect people make asses of themselves like the rest of us!

Christina: Jake: “I think I can see your arteries closing up from here.” I loved the drunken bacon cheeseburger-loving Addie.

Are you rooting for Jake or does Addie need to give Sam a second try?

Caitlyn: Definitely Jake! I think this week he really proved that he's a good man. He respected Addison and didn't take advantage of her in anyway. Addison going back to Sam again would be what … the third chance already? She needs to move on!

Jarrod: A second try? I believe Addison and Sam have had their seasons 3, 4 and 5 of fame together. It’s time to pass the torch. It’s understandable that Addison still has feelings for Sam, but Jake is, well, Jake. Besides, the sparks between them two are just unexplainable and flaring every episode.

Carissa: Jake. Jake. Jake. She and Sam have too much other history that will always get in the way. Plus the whole, "I don't want another kid thing" is an obstacle they will never clear.

Christina: I’m with the rest of the round table on this one. Besides, I already have a Team Jake t-shirt.

Should Cooper and Erica be honest with Mason about the latter’s declining health?

Caitlyn: The accident was bad enough but I think being in his mother's embrace during a seizure should be enough for Mason to get some answers. That would've been traumatizing for any kid and I'm sure he's got questions. Cooper and Erica don't need to tell him she's terminal, but I think he deserves the sugar coated truth.

Jarrod: Probably best if Erica and Cooper do. Honestly, if the kid hasn’t picked up on anything yet, he never will. This storyline feels like it’s been dragging on forever. Just kill off the mother and put Mason with Cooper and Charlotte. I’m pretty sure everyone else is predicting that this is the case. Am I right?

Carissa: Yes. Because if they don't and she dies, he will never have the chance to express to her how he feels and it will haunt him and Cooper forever.

Christina: Absolutely. Then again, I have a feeling that Mason recognizes that something is seriously wrong with his mother and will come to Erica and Cooper with questions soon enough.

What did you think of Sheldon’s case with the army veteran experiencing PTSD?

Caitlyn: I thought it was another good story and issue for the show to discuss. I liked how the show was once again able to connect with RAINN and raise awareness on that. I also appreciated the discussion between Sheldon and Violet because it explained how different that case was to other cases done by the show.

Jarrod: I’m with Caitlyn on this one. It was emotional, it raises awareness, and it’s purely based on fact. Cases like these happen so often and I’m glad the show brought it up. I believe Sheldon was much better equipped to handle it, but I do wish that he’d get a storyline that doesn’t resolve around work for once.

Carissa: Very sad, actually. Especially the reaction of his wife. Although as soon as I saw that particular actress cast as his wife, I knew she would give him trouble about it.

Christina: As always, Private Practice has such interesting and defining medical cases. It was a tough story to tell and the writers did an excellent job. However, like Jarrod, I think that Sheldon needs an actual storyline outside of the ones with him involved with his patients.

Did you notice that Amelia had hardly any screen time?

Caitlyn: Definitely. She probably had less than a minute of screen time and her only dialogue had to do with Erica's condition. I thought it was pretty odd how she was completely out of the storylines this week.

Jarrod: As a matter of fact, I did. I get that she has had plenty of screen time this season, but isn’t she meant to be on some redemption arc? I don’t want to see her apologizing to someone four weeks from now for her actions. Continuation is the key; otherwise, us fans lose the plot.

Carissa: Not really. With such a large cast, some characters get more screen time some weeks than others. She was definitely in on the Erica scenes.

Christina: Like Carissa, I hardly noticed. Luckily, we know that she’ll be back with more screen time sooner than later as she will likely play a major role in Erica’s treatment storyline.

Private Practice Promo: It's All Too Much

Private Practice returned with a solid episode last night, bringing the drama mixed with heart that we've come to expect this year - regardless of whether or not you're a card-carrying member of Team Jaddison.

Where are things headed next Thursday?

Hope you weren't expecting a lighter episode. Cooper, Pete and Addison work to treat the baby of a drug addict, while Sam finds his sister in jail, in a near-catatonic state. He brings her to Sheldon for help.

Private Practice Review: This One's for Team Jaddison

Private Practice took a break last week, and the series returned with the drama we’ve desperately grown to love this season.

If you are on Team Jake, it’s likely that you were thrilled with this installment. I, for one, definitely enjoyed every second of Jaddison. It was nice to see the fun and drunken side of Addie versus the super baby-focused one. Their chemistry was absolutely undeniable, and their scenes were my favorite part of "The Time Has Come."

There’s just one thing, though: Jake, the gentleman - graciously and not surprisingly - turned down Addison when she wasn’t entirely in the right state of mind. He also believes in opening doors and being the driver. He seems like an amazing guy, but I’m starting to wonder what the catch could be. Is Jake truly flawless?!? Surely, there’s got to be something wrong with him, right?

By the way, how funny was it when Addison woke up looking like a hot mess? I couldn’t help but laugh and swoon as Jake knew exactly how to take care of her.

Back at the hospital, Erica and Mason were involved in an accident after Erica suffered a seizure and blacked out at the wheel. Ultimately, Cooper finally convinced Erica to fight for her life for Mason.

Do you think that the adults will eventually tell Mason what’s going on with his mother? Is it better to prepare him for the worst or would telling him only make him worry more?

Meanwhile, Sheldon helped an army veteran experiencing PTSD reveal to his wife that he was secretly sexually assaulted. It was certainly an intriguing storyline that involved Sheldon struggling with the differences in between male and female rape victims.

As expected, the wife was shocked and confused by her husband’s actions. I was grateful that Sam helped her to see that she couldn’t possibly blame her husband for something that wasn’t his fault. Luckily, the wife was able to see clearly with Sam’s help and returned to her husband’s side.

Elsewhere: Pete was totally getting on my last nerve. He was being ridiculously annoying about Violet and her new boy toy, Scott. Even Sam recognized that his buddy was being a total hypocrite and jerk when he called him out about his one night stand.

Their separation was a mutual decision, and Pete ought to respect that. I’m betting that many of you would like to rename the Violet Annoyance Scale the Pete Annoyance Scale. The thing is, I thought they were both irritating, with the latter possibly scoring an off the charts rating.

I’m rating tonight’s installment a TWO on the VAS. For the most part, Violet didn’t do much but listen to Pete whine and give her crap about her new relationship throughout the duration of the episode. However, I was frustrated when she said that Pete let her walk out the door by not stopping her. As their relationship separation continues to spiral out of control, they both need to quit blaming each other.

On another note, it’s nice to see that Violet finally put her peephole on the front door to use. Also, I’m hoping that Scott and Violet didn’t get too far in the living room and that they moved their business to the bedroom because there’s simply been way too much bloodshed in that room.

So, what did you think of "The Time Has Come"? Are you optimistic about Jaddison or do you think Sam deserves another chance? What would your VAS and PAS ratings be?

1. What was your favorite scene or quote from the episode?

Christina: I loved both scenes with Sheldon and Sam at the gym and when they were creating their online dating profiles. Overall, this episode was heavily intense and it definitely needed a bit of laughter.

Caitlyn: In almost every episode, my favorite moment is usually between Charlotte and Cooper and that holds true for this week. It only lasted for a few seconds but seeing Cooper break down and Charlotte be there for him was great to watch. I needed a tender moment like that after everything else that preceded it.

Jarrod: I’d have to agree with Catilyn. The Charlotte and Cooper scenes have always tugged at the heartstrings for me. Charlotte just has so much compassion and grace for him this season, so I think this scene between them was just beautiful.

Carissa: Gosh. I don't know if it's really possible to have a favorite with an episode of this nature, but I'll pick Amelia's off the cuff remark about Sheldon not needing anyone's help in knowing what to say to a woman. He's such a good guy, maybe they will finally come to something.

2. What was more surprising: Addison wanting to take a break from the baby stuff or another tragic event happening in Violet’s home?

Christina: Although the latter was a huge shocker, I’m going with the former because Addie has been so ridiculously baby crazy all season long. Violet doesn’t know how to take a step back from her patients and seemingly always gets too involved, but I never expected Addie to actually want a break from trying to become a mother.

Caitlyn: Another tragic and equally bloody event at Violet’s, for sure! She seriously needs to consider moving out of that place unless she wants to drive another sledgehammer through her hardwood floor. Addison taking a break should be good for her. It might even give more opportunities for Jake to enter her life in a non-patient-doctor kind of way.

Jarrod: I’m probably a loner as I say this, but I’d have to say Addison taking a break from babies. The baby concept was what brought us this show to begin with. She finally took charge after delaying it for so many years. It’s quite sudden that an ambitious woman such as Addison would give up so easily – even for a little while.

Carissa: At least we know where the next season of American Horror Story is taking place! Time to put the place on the market, Violet. If you have not one, but two giant blood stains in your living room, you know you've picked the wrong house. So, yeah, I'm going with the mess in Violet's home.

3. How did you feel about the shocking scene with Joanna stabbing David relentlessly? If you were Violet, would you have handled things differently?

Christina: Like I said in my review, it was gruesome and brutal. Joanna, with blood all over and violently stabbing away, was terrifying and reminded me why I hardly watch horror films. And no, I would have never handled things the way Violet did. I know that Violet means well, but she has yet to learn how to draw a much-needed line between her and her patients.

Caitlyn: I held my breath until that scene was over. I couldn’t believe it! I felt sincerity when Joanna told Violet she wasn’t actually capable of doing that but I guess a person who has experienced what she has could easily be driven to that. I’m not sure if I could ever be as brave as Violet to put myself in that kind of situation but I wish I could be. I would’ve probably opted to do something safer but who knows if things would end better that way.

Jarrod: Once Violet was knocked out cold, I knew she was going to awaken to a body on the floor with blood everywhere. Was it shocking? Yes, but I found it inevitable. If I were Violet, I would have had 911 on speed dial. She wanted him gone for Joanna’s sake, so why not have the police come and arrest him? Hopefully, this is a wakeup call to not get too emotionally involved again.

Carissa: I don't think anyone knows how to handle a situation like that until they are in it. Having been beaten by my boyfriend, not wanting to take the stand and be torn apart by the defense, knowing how "good" it would have felt to retaliate in some nature...I think Violet offering her home was a wonderful gesture of kindness. And I don't think Joanna would have stabbed her husband to death if she had casually run into him in the street months after the ordeal. But that's not what happened. He beat her, killed her baby and then broke into Violet's home throwing more punches. Violet was assaulted, Joanna had every reason to expect she was next, even though we don't know what happened.

4. Scott, the paramedic, was back again this week at Violet’s side. What are your impressions of him?

Christina: “Hot Scott” is definitely hot. It’s too early for me to draw any conclusions of him, but I like that Violet chose to go to him and not Pete at the close of the episode. He seems like he’s genuinely there for Violet, and that’s exactly what she needs.

Caitlyn: He’s definitely growing on me. I’m still not sold that there’s actual chemistry there, but I like what we’ve seen from Scott as a character. He might be young but he showed a lot of maturity in this episode.

Jarrod: I honestly believe that he’s a good guy. They’ve been dating for a simple week or so and he’s already taking care of her. He doesn’t care about her age or marital status. He likes her for her, and I think that if anyone will screw this up, it’ll be Violet. Hopefully some more scenes in the future will help the audience see some chemistry there, as I myself, am still not completely sold on it 100%.

Carissa: I'm jealous. I want a screenwriter to come into my life and write a storyline much like this for me. Hey, screenwriter friends, now is your chance! He's incredibly hot, sweet and caring. Unless he's a serial killer in disguise, and let's be real, with Violet you can never be sure, it's perfect.

5. Did Amelia do the right thing by being honest and telling Erica that she wouldn’t go through chemotherapy?

Christina: That’s like asking if honesty is the best policy. Erica asked her to be honest and she was. So, that’s that. Do I think that Erica would have changed her mind if Amelia answered differently? No. It just seemed as though Erica had already given her decision much thought as her mind was clearly already made up.

Caitlyn: I think she did. Coming from Amelia, it means a lot, especially after the gesture she gave to her father’s watch. She didn’t have enough time with her father so seeing her choose good quality of life over time means something. Erica probably needed her honesty to be at peace with the decision she’s made.

Jarrod: Yes, I believe it was the right thing. Amelia spoke from her heart, not her head – which she usually does. She was telling her what she would do, not what science could do. So I believe it was the right thing.

Carissa: Yes! I think one of the worst things a doctor can do is give false hope to a dying patient. Amelia's growth this season is nothing short of remarkable.
