-Jane and PFC Abby Sherman are both awarded medals for heroism. As they leave, PFC Sherman is killed in a car explosion.

-Jane is still recovering from her gunshot wound and finds out that her parents are divorcing and losing their house.  Maura offers Jane's mother a place to stay.

-At the ceremony, Jane reconnects with Lt. Col Casey Jones. After the explosion, he spends the night with Jane who says they slept together but didn't have sex.

-Maura autopsies Sherman and finds that the bullet still in her shoulder wasn't from a Taliban weapon as expected. It was from friendly fire.

-Sherman's commanding officer is almost killed by another car bomb. When they go to question fellow soldier, now suspect Campbell, his home explodes with him inside.

-Jane and Casey interview Sherman's ex, Private Forman. Jane calls to say that Campbell was killed before the explosion.Forman then pulls a grenade on Jane and Casey. He shot Abby and then killed her because she left him for another man.

-Jane makes a grab for the grenade, holding it shut while Casey wrestles Forman to the ground and puts the pin back in the grenade.

-Jane is no longer in pain and finally cleared to go back to work.
