Brendan McCale is found dead after being tortured in his own bookstore. Jane eventually finds a book hidden behind his safe.

The book isn't rare. It's a fake, but Maura deciphers a message. It's Brendan's confession that he was involved in a bombing in Dublin where two people were killed. The others involved did not want him to confess.

Paddy Doyle is going to be transferred to a Federal prison in California. He asks for one last visit with Maura. She decides to go.

Angela says that she needs a change so she quits her job and breaks up with Cavanaugh.
