Rick Sullivan has been in prison for 15 years for setting fire to his house in which his wife and daughter were killed. He's just been told he has six months to live and asks Korzak to help prove to his son that he is innocent.
Against orders, Jane helps Korsak, Maura, and Frankie work the case from home as she hasn't been cleared to go back to work.
It turns out that the Sullivan house wasn't the target at all. Their neighbor was dealing drugs with a biker gang. When someone wanted him dead, they set the wrong house on fire because he and Rick Sullivan had the same color trucks in their driveways. Rick is exonerated and reconnects with his son.
Angela hides the letter allowing Jane to return to work because she's scared for her safety on the job but when she sees how much Jane loves what she does, she hands it over.
