A severed foot washes up on the beach. Later the tide brings in a torso with its limbs sawed off but it is a different victim but this victim was poisoned with cyanide. The torso has a metal rod in its spine that has a serial number that leads back to the victim, Richard O'Connell. Richard had a spinal disease. He was seeing Dr. Murray for sound therapy and he believed that it was curing him.

The detectives find Dr. Murray's assistant, Bob Burke but it appears that he's been poisoned as well. At the hospital, Burke survives but refuses any tests. He later overtakes his police protection and tries to flee the hospital. Korsak and Jane find and arrest him. He so believed in Dr. Murray's treatments, that when Dr. Murray realized they weren't working on Richard, Burke killed them both.

Angela is having trouble finding a job. She's sent out 37 resumes, only gotten one interview and no jobs. She helps Korsak open his bar and ends up being a hit with the patrons. Korsak hires her as his bartender.
