Pt. 3/3 I know the writer's teased from the beginning that Andy and Sam were "destined," but try to remember another huge character-driven drama from the yonder years, "Dawson's Creek." Writer's teased from day one that Dawson and Joey were meant to be. Just like Andy and Sam, it took a while to get them together, but it happened, and then they broke up. They both pined for each other, but ended up with other people -- not that it kept the writer's from making viewers hopeful that they could still end up together come the finale. But who did Joey (Andy) end up with? Pacey (our Dawson's Creek version of Nick). And Dawson (Sam) still ended up happy in his own way in the end, even without the girl that everyone though he'd end up with since episode 1. So, who knows. I always say, be open-minded. In the end, Andy could be with Sam, or Nick, or hell, let's just throw it out there, she could reconcile with Luke. He was, after all, the only one she ever honestly considered marrying at any point in the entire show, and they had a lot of soft, open moments and substance up until the Andy/Sam crush became more or less obvious to Detective Callahan and Jo showed up and instigated infidelity. Bottom line, we don't know where it could lead. Any good writing team won't let the fans dictate how they write their show and they go into their writer's room with open minds for any outcome for each character, and they'll write the one they feel is the most honest to the characters they've written and the emotional developments they've been leading up to with each season. It's in their hands, and we just have to go with it.

Pt. 2 Now, Sam... despite Marlow's bi-polar disorder, the lies, etc., with her, he is learning that someone else, besides Andy, needs him direly and that he loves someone else, besides Andy. I think now that the cat's out of the bag and all of Marlow's secrets are on the table, Sam will lay his out as well for her (after all, he wants someone to know him, and he wanted that someone to be Marlow), and that means he and Marlow will finally have the open, healthy relationship that Andy and Nick currently have. I think, also, that because part of him still cares for Andy, that when he sees the potential for her to have a chance at happiness with Nick, a guy who has never hurt her, that he will step up and do the right thing for Andy and let her move on. I don't think he'll be professing his lingering feelings any time soon. Now, I think Sam's character has shown that he'll put others first, including Andy; if he feels it's in her best interest for him to let her go, then he will.

Realistically, I think when a relationship ends as badly and as harshly as Andy and Sam's did or even Andy and Luke's did, people don't tend to come back from that. People tend to move onto other relationships and not return to something or someone that caused more pain and hurt than good things. I think the writers of this show have been trying to remain realistic and true to the characters and to what people might actually do. It makes sense for Andy to fall for her best friend (Nick), someone who has never lied to her, never hurt her, always been there to listen and give advice, make her laugh, trust in her abilities and who openly relies on her just as much as she relies on him. It's very equal ground between them and very open. That's a first for Andy. So, yes, I can see the writer's, if they follow the trend of being true to a character-driven show, keeping Andy and Nick together. Now, Sam... despite Marlow's bi-polar disorder, the lies, etc., with her, he is learning that someone else, besides Andy, needs him direly and that he loves someone else, besides Andy. I liked Luke or Nick. I liked Sam until he and Andy actually got together, then I realized it was the most unhealthy relationship ever for either of them. Sometimes the person you're the most into just isn't the best person for you and you need to find a person you can not only love, but who IS good for you. I think Luke learned his lesson and I don't think his torch for Andy has gone out yet, despite time and distance. So I'm rooting for Luke or Nick.

Same here, enough of nick. The show began with Andy and Sam, and that was part of the enjoyment of the show, now it is depressing, and there is no way out except Sam and Andy, if you want to keep your viewers.
