Alex picks up an over night shift in the Emergency Room while Joel, Gavin, and Maggie celebrate Shahir's birthday. While there, Alex treats a hockey player facing the end of his career and a stabbing victim. A gunman also opens fire in the ER and Joel is called in to treat one of the shooting victims.
Charlie, meanwhile, talks to the stabbing victim who challenges Charlie to fight for his life.
