Tess had a nightmare about her childhood and woke up to find a musical ballerina on her desk; the same kind that she had in the dream. It lead she and Clark to call upon a woman referred to as Granny Goodness, who runs a children's orphanage and brainwashes the children into forgetting their parents.
Clark found a girl who Granny was holding under the orphanage, and ended up attacked by a group of female ninjas who were using kryptonite weapons. Granny interrupted and tried to erase Clark's memories, but Clark managed to put out the kryptonite fire and escape, but Granny had disappeared.
Tess had once been at the orphanage, and Granny revealed she had been watching over her all these years and was the one who took Tess to Cadmus after having been burned and left for dead. Granny wanted to "reclaim" Tess and use her position, but Tess resisted and Granny used her powers of telekinesis against her and locked her in her old room. Tess escaped but was also attacked by Granny's soldiers and hung her from the rafters, but Clark freed her.
Lois' father sent her a box of things her mother left for her which included some videotapes her mother had recorded before her passing. Lois watched the videos and decided she needed to help heal the hole in Clark's heart between he and Jor-El. She went to the fortress to talk to Jor-El, but he wouldn't respond.
After discovering that Lois had taken the key to the Fortress, Clark followed her there and found Jor-El was holding her in some kind of suspended forcefield. Clark freed her, but Lois wouldn't give up, urging Jor-El to speak to Clark. This triggered a recording left for Clark from Jor-El and Lara, where they expressed their love and faith in Clark and his future.
Back at the farm, Lois found a note from her mom left her a gift for her wedding day. Clark pulled out a diamond ring from his pocket and looked at it.
Back at the mansion, Tess found her birth certificate proving she was Lionel Luthor's daughter.
Granny was paid a visit by DeSaad who introduced Godfrey as Darkseid's "third minion." The three of them are paving the way for the arrival of Darkseid.
The thing about being a parent, it doesn't end. Not with age, not with death. I will always be your mother, Lois. And I will always love you.Lois' Mother
