Fox Cancels So You Think You Can Dance Results Show

So You Think You Can Dance will return to Fox in late May, but with one noticeable change: the network has canceled this competition's weekly results show.

I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD,” executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe Tweeted yesterday, adding: "I’m certainly not mad at Fox - they have supported SYTYCD FOR 9 seasons. With the help of Mike Darnell [Fox's president of Alternative Entertainment]. I think we have some great new ideas.”

Auditions for season nine of So You Think You Can Dance kick off next week in Atlanta. The series averaged around six million viewers last summer.

Considered a frontrunner for a duration of the season, 19-year old Melanie Moore fulfilled her promise tonight and was named the So You Think You Can Dance champion.

The Marietta, Georgia native and Fordham University student garnered 47 percent of the vote, defeating Sasha (second), Marko (third) and Tadd (fourth) in the final tally.

In addition to her dancing ability, Moore was consistently praised by the SYTYCD judges for her acting chops, something they noted since her first Contemporary routine, when Melanie and Marko pretended to be two statues yearning to merge as one.

The final four on So You Think You Can Dance were forced to come up with four routines each last night. It was a lot to task. It resulted in some understandably messy routines.

Still... what the heck was that final performance, Marko and Tadd? Neither came across well while Gumboot Stepping, with the former looking seriously winded. There was also a lack of synchronization. In the end, sorry, but I had to award the tandem my first F of the season.

These two contestants were ousted Thursday on So You Think You Can Dance, with the judges still calling the shots even after paring the field to 10.

This departure from past years definitely gave a buffer to dancers with smaller fan bases, but no matter how you look at it, the competition is steep.

Farewell, Alexander and Ryan.

These two contestants were ousted Thursday on So You Think You Can Dance, while both their partners survived to dance another day. Now we're on to the Top 10.

Ultimately, despite some high points this summer and even this week, neither Alexander or Ryan lived up to the bar set by their partners or by the field at large.
