Supernatural Preview: "Sex and Violence"

In this week's episode of Supernatural, Sam and Dean are investigating three separate occurrences when men killed their wives.  They think the cause of these murders is a siren.

Apparently a Siren isn't just a mythical creature, but a real life temptress and in this clip from "Sex and Violence," they go to a strip club to try to find her.  As Sam puts it, "If you're a Siren in 09 looking to ruin the lives of a few morons, where would you set up shop?"  Too funny.

Supernatural Spoilers: Q&A with Sera Gamble Part Two

TV Guide recently brought us some quality Supernatural spoilers thanks to a reader Q&A with supervising producer Sera Gamble.  Now, TV Guide offers up part two with even more questions answers.  Here's a small excerpt:

I'm sure one or two of those people Dean tortured in Hell weren't demons, but regular folk who had an error in judgment. Will Sam and Dean ever run into any of them? — K.
Sera Gamble: We batted around a few versions of that idea, but we've been focusing more on his torturer, Alastair. The pertinent details of Dean's Hell story get told through that relationship. There's more to come in a future episode.

I read the spoilers for Episode 18. Is there any chance you will play the character named Sera? — ckll
Gamble: Nope. There is a character named Sera Siege though. There are characters named after everyone on the staff. The episode starts out dizzyingly meta: Sam and Dean discover a book series called Supernatural, about the adventures of two demon-hunting brothers named Sam and Dean. Every detail is spot-on. Obviously, this is deeply alarming to them. Julie Siege wrote the episode, and she was very even-handed, in that she managed to take hilarious jabs at the writers, the fans and the boys. The story eventually twists in an unexpected direction that's more grounded and substantial — it's not just an amusing exercise. But if there was any doubt that we have a sense of humor about ourselves, this ought to clear it up.

What is the difference (besides what I guess you could call their "political" affiliations") between the angels and demons? I ask because their policies seem to be pretty similar: Both sides are into possessing humans; both sides are into destroying large numbers of humans and both sides are willing to do extreme measures with no regard for the suffering of others to achieve their objectives. — MrKWoodmaid
Gamble: Their methods are often eerily similar, huh? I find that pretty interesting. One big difference is that demons used to be human. Angels never were. Demons may have lost their humanity, but it could be argued that angels never had it to begin with. But: It's not entirely true that angels have no regard for the suffering of humans. Castiel is clearly troubled by it. Anna was so compelled by humans that she chose to fall. You've got to take angels on a case-by-case basis.

Will DemonMeg, Ellen, Lilith, Alastair or Anna be back anytime soon? — BradleyL317
Gamble: Yup, you'll be seeing Alastair and Anna again soon. And Lilith will be making a reappearance later this season as well.

Supernatural Spoilers: More Castiel and Lilith

We have a followup to some Supernatural spoilers that supervising producer Sera Gamble hinted at last week.  We have updates on both Castiel's and Lilith's returning appearances.

According to E! Online, we'll next see Castiel in March.  As far as Lilith goes, she will hijack the body of a dental hygienist and return to wreak havoc on our boys in episode 18 (this week is episode 13).

Oh and if that's not enough for you, we have a sneak peak from Thursday's episode, "Afterschool Special" that shows a young Dean and Sam flashback:

Supernatural Spoilers: Q&A With Sera Gamble

TV Guide recently had a Q&A with Supernatural supervising producer Sera Gamble where they allowed the readers to write in questions she answered.  Though she wasn't completely free from the grips of creator, Eric Kripke, she did reveal a few juicy Supernatural spoilers.  Here's a small excerpt:

Dean is suffering blow after crushing blow to his already-fragile sense of worth, and I'm wondering if we're going to get to the reason for it in this season, or will we have to wait till next year?
Gamble: A boost to Dean's self-worth is coming in an episode also featuring the enjoyment of organic rice milk lattes and a Toyota Prius. But to be clear — Dean's not some fragile guy walking through the world and having his self-esteem attacked. He's a confident bad-ass who in private moments tends toward compulsively beating himself up. It's all internal. We've been weaving the reasons why into the show since the very beginning. There are a few; but the most general answer I can give you is that if John Winchester was my dad I'd be in serious therapy about it.

What is Dean's mission from heaven? Is there any little hint you might be able to drop?
Gamble: Dean's mission is connected to the time he spent in The Bad Place.

When is our favorite angel, Castiel, coming back? I miss him.
Gamble: Soon! And often enough that I suggest someone create a drinking game around the character.

Will Lilith be making an appearance this season? Dean hallucinated about her in "Yellow Fever," but we haven't actually seen the real Lilith since the Season 3 finale.
Gamble: Lilith's very active behind the scenes this season. And yes, you'll be seeing her in the flesh again as well.

Supernatural Spoilers: Jump the Anna

Though some Supernatural fans seem unhappy about the possibility of a third Winchester brother showing up, Ausiello confirms the rumor in his latest column and even has the episode title, "Jump The Shark."

Another rumor that has been confirmed is that Dean's old sex partner, Anna will definitely be returning at the end of that season.  Sounds like these rumors can officially be classified as Supernatural spoilers to us.

Supernatural Interviews: Writer Jeremy Carver

BuddyTV recently sat down with Supernatural writer Jeremy Carver who has wrote such fantastic episodes as "A Very Supernatural Christmas," "Mystery Spot," and this week's upcoming "Family Remains."  Here's a small excerpt:

Were you a fan of Supernatural before you started writing for it? Or had you seen the first two seasons?
Yeah, you know the process of joining Supernatural was sort of generic in the sense of, every year there's a staffing season, where writers who aren't on shows are trying to get on shows. And your stuff is sent around, your material is sent around to various show-runners like Eric [Kripke] and Bob [Singer]. And they're reading it and they're interviewing people when they are making decisions as who to hire. As far as my awareness of Supernatural, I was a fan, I was not a huge fan. I mean, I'd seen several episodes, but I was not like an avid watcher. My wife actually was the one who introduced me to the show, because she was a pretty big fan. And that's what got me into it. But when I came on staff, I had a lot of catching up to do in that way.

You must have because "A Very Supernatural Christmas" and this season’s "In The Beginning" are both deep in the Winchester family history mythology. Do you feel like you have a good understanding of the whole Winchester family tree?
You know, I have a good understanding and I by no means have the best understanding of anyone on this show. I think, to be honest with you, the hardest episode for me to get my head around was the first one that I ever wrote. And I co-wrote it with Bob Singer, which was "Sin City." And that's because that episode was something that we had never done on the show before. We were basically going to have a demon sitting in the room with Dean, just talking about demon stuff. And I didn't have the slightest clue what a demon and Dean would possibly have to talk about. And actually, Bob did that part of the writing.

The heavy mythology stuff, it was specifically “In the Beginning,” it was daunting and a little terrifying to be given the responsibility to do it. But it was also, so much fun. And Eric does give you a pretty good amount of freedom to run with it and present him with what you think. And he gives you a lot to play with and a lot of room to present him with what your version of what the Campbell clan would look like. He has very firm, fixed ideas but there's a lot of room to play with that stuff.

What is coming up in the next few episodes?
The next episode I wrote is called "Family Remains." Basically it was, I don't come from a horror background, so it was me challenging myself to make a horror movie in one episode. And that's what I attempted to set out to do.
