Recap

On Switched at Birth Season 4 Episode 9, Iris convinces Daphne to rush a sorority. At first Daphne is unsure about rushing because she has so much work to do in her pre-med studies and joining a sorority would get in the way. One of the girls from Theta house convinces Daphne to interview with them and says she was in the same boat as Daphne, but once she joined Theta she was able to excel even more in her pre-med studies.

While being interviewed by one of the girls from the Theta house Daphne tries to talk herself up. She first tries to use her switched at birth story to try to get the girl to like her more, but she isn't falling for it. Daphne tries to use John and Kathryn's name as local celebrities to garner more favoritism, but again she is not falling for it. When the time comes to find out if they got into the sorority they wanted, Iris gets into the one she was rushing and Daphne was rejected. Daphne finds out she was not let in because of how badly she was making herself look.

Meanwhile, Mary Beth is having a hard time with all the change surrounding Travis and she makes the decision that they should break up. Bay tries to convince her to get back together with him, but she tells Bay relationships end and things don't always last forever. She also tells Bay she needs to not look at their failed relationship as proof her and Emmett can't work things out.

Switched at Birth Season 4 Episode 9 Quotes

I'm sorry you didn't get in and I'm even more sorry that I hooked up with a guy you're clearly obsessed with, but if you're looking for a catty and superficial girl I think you should try looking in the mirror.

Royce

Mary Beth: I can't do this anymore.
Travis: What do you mean?
Mary Beth: I've worked really hard to be the kind of person who's not needy and insecure, but this relationship is turning me into someone I don't want to be.
Travis: Okay. I'll stop having out with those guys so much.
Mary Beth: You're a Freshman in college. You should be able to hang out with whoever you want. Date whoever you want.
Travis: But I want to date you.
Mary Beth: You're the first person I ever fell in love with. The first person I ever though about a future with. I lost my virginity to you. I learned a new language for you. I will always love you, but this relationship isn't right for me anymore.
