Over the past few seasons, The Bachelor has become more about publicity than true love.

On this week's episode, therefore, it's nice to see ABC acknowledging that the show is after ratings over engagement rings.

With that in mind, Jake Pavelka takes a few lucky "ladies" on a group date tomorrow night. Their destination? A photo shoot for InStyle, as Jake and his desperate suitors will be featured in the magazine's February issue.

The Bachelor season premiere just aired Monday night, but already, rumors are circulating as to who receives the final rose from hunky Dallas airline pilot Jake Pavelka.

We've received some serious intel on the subject, as well as the cheating scandal that allegedly happens this season, and we are inclined to believe most or all of it.

The level of detail, as well as the source reporting the inside information lends these shocking spoilers far more credibility than your standard message board banter.

The Bachelor, Jake Pavelka, was previously characterized as sweet, but boringly flawless during his stint on The Bachelorette, and Jillian Harris sent him home for that reason.

So this is the guy who's starring on the next season?

Puzzling, yes. But now that he’s in the spotlight, producers upped the macho factor with a montage of Jake showering, flying, riding his motorbike, working in the lawn, etc.

All shirtless, of course.

Some other highlights from the 14th season premiere of The Bachelor, which aired last night, and during which Jake met 25 women and doled out roses to a very lucky 15 ...

Jake flirts with a pair of extremely intelligent, career-driven women.

Obligatory cat fights. A staple of The Bachelor. No huge spats broke out Monday night, but you know it's just a matter of time. Some of the girls even promised as much.

Bachelorette alumni. Jillian and her fiance, Ed Swiderski, returned to help Jake narrow down the field of aspiring trophy wives. That was pretty cool. They seem happy.

Hiding secrets. Again, this is more of a tease of what's to come. But we're led to believe there's a serious cheating scandal on tap and that someone is hiding a family.

Michelle. She is insane. We love her.

When Chris Harrison deemed it time, Kathryn, Michelle, Ella, Elizabeth, Ali, Vienna, Christina, Gia, Ashley, Rozlyn, Jessie, Corrie, Valisha, Ashleigh, and Tenley got roses.

We looked at what had worked for me in the past, what had caused past relationships to fail and by the time it was over, they knew me better than I did.

Following the most buzzed-about season in series history, Jake Pavelka takes center stage tonight and tries to keep the Jason Mesnick-inspired momentum of the show going.

Will he succeed? The single pilot has already read from ABC's script and promised lots of drama on the weeks ahead. It all starts with the usual setting, of course:

On the January 4 season premiere of The Bachelor, viewers are in for a couple surprises.

First, Jake Pavelka has trouble deciding which women to keep around. Then, host Chris Harrison comes in and warns contestants that the final rose is on the way.

Just kidding. Those developments take place every week.

But Jake and company really do receive an unexpected visit during the episode; while one suitor goes with a little role play in order to win over the handsome airline pilot.

The Bachelor has not produced a successful marriage in 13 seasons (although to be fair, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney are threatening to break that barrier).

That doesn't stop new star Jake Pavelka from believing in the process, but the Dallas airline pilot concedes that some of what transpired on the show was tough.

"I can tell you from the get-go, it is a very rocky and dramatic season," Jake tells USA Today. "Some of the things that happened, drama-wise, just floored me."

But did he find love? "I don't want to ruin the ending," The Bachelor says, adding, "I stayed true to myself from the very beginning. I went in and was very honest."

"I said if I find love I'll come out engaged. I didn't promise a ring at the end and stayed true to myself. I didn't necessarily do what everybody wanted me to."

Jake Pavelka says that "Half way through the entire journey, I still had no idea whatsoever. It was cast extremely well for my temperament. I had a lot of romance."

The 31-year-old notes that he personally is short on scandals: "I don't have a girlfriend, I'm not married and don't have 8 mistresses - pardon me, Tiger Woods."

"Stuff like cheating and shady activity? ... Everyone has skeletons in their closet, but if I could think of anything that I thought would shock everybody, I would get it out there right now and confess it to you, but I can't think of anything to say."

Give it time, Jake. If there are no skeletons, ABC will plant some.

Dallas commercial pilot Jake Pavelka, who failed to capture Jillian Harris’ heart on The Bachelorette, was named the next Bachelor last month, to moderate fan praise.

The long-running reality show now has not just a new star, but a premiere date: Monday, January 4. No word yet on whether its recent two-hour episodes continue.

Oh, and it also has a ridiculously cheesy subtitle this season. Are you ready for it? Better keep the wastebasket handy ... The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love!

Groan.

Suffice it to say, people would have rather seen Reid or Kiptyn as The Bachelor, rather than Jake Pavelka, who finished like seventh on The Bachelorette last season.

Moreover, a lot of fans disliked how Jake returned to rat out Wes Hayden to Jillian, although conversely, some praised the pilot's "heroic" (and clearly staged) act.

Either way, we're sure the new season will be a big success, as it almost always is. They keep making it interesting and unintentionally funny, so hey, we're sold!

Texas airline pilot Jake Pavelka, who you may recall from The Bachelorette, will be the star of The Bachelor, ABC revealed last night on Dancing with the Stars.

Apparently Reid Rosenthal and Kiptyn Locke weren't available.

In any case, Jake knows how the show works, having wooed Jillian Harris semi-successfully on The Bachelorette, and cannot wait to hand out some roses.

“I’ve dated some really amazing girls, but I’ve never been successful at finding that one girl,” Jake said. “I saw how the whole thing came together with Jillian. I saw how the process works and I believe in it. That’s a unique way to meet somebody.”

Unique, yes. Successful? That's another story.

Jake Pavelka has some big shoes to fill.

While he was branded as Mr. Perfect on the show, Jillian ultimately eliminated Jake in favor of some shady characters. This brought back to the show to sell one of them out.

In a hilariously-staged tearful scene, Jake returned the week after he got the boot to warn Jillian about Wes Hayden, who he said was using her and dating someone else.

Some felt this was lame, a clear violation of man code and a total d!ck move. But the show's female viewership still loved Jake, with some even praising that "heroic" act.

Jake Pavelka did some acting earlier in life under the name of Jake Landrum, but is best known for being a commercial pilot - and for being soooo sweet and handsome!

Despite the massive controversy of their reunion on The Bachelor's "After the Final Rose" special, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney have been brushing off the haters and are still together and happy after all these ... well, weeks. But for The Bachelor, that's no small feat.

Since the stunning season finale in early March, the two have been apparently been getting to know each other, hanging out, grilling and having drinks. It's been really exciting.
