Emily Maynard to Star on The Bachelorette

Emily Maynard, who got engaged to Brad Womack on the season finale of ABC's The Bachelor last year, is single again after that didn't work out ... and will star on The Bachelorette this summer!

"It's official, Emily Maynard is The Bachelorette," an insider close to the show says.

Maynard, whose fiancee passed away in a car crash seven years ago before she learned she was pregnant with his child, was coveted by producers since she broke it off with Brad, but was initially resistant.

Moreover, in order to accommodate the single mother of six-year-old daughter Ricki, "ABC is even going to move filming to Charlotte [N.C., Emily's hometown]. It won't be in Los Angeles at all."

She even had fans convinced she wasn't interested, bluntly Tweeting "I don't want to be The Bachelorette" this summer. Somehow ABC made her change her mind, and the fan favorite will be handing out the roses.

Emily Maynard has been linked to NFL player Jeremy Shockey and Most Eligible Dallas cast member Matt Nordgren in recent months, although she denied dating both. What awaits her in the ABC dating pool?!

It's a great "get" for ABC, but a surprising move just the same, as it seemed that Emily had no interest in the spotlight before, during or after being on The Bachelor. ABC has yet to confirm the casting move.

On a side note, Bentley Williams, who wooed Ashley Hebert on The Bachelorette last summer while telling cameras he wished Emily was The Bachelorette instead, is reportedly interested in competing.

Ali Fedotowsky, last season's star of The Bachelorette, is still engaged to her fiance, Roberto Martinez, and loving life as a San Diego morning show correspondent.

Well, except for the broken femur she suffered while kickboxing! In our interview with her this week, Fedotowsky talked about how Ab Cuts is aiding her recovery.

The Bachelorette: Men Tell All special was about what you would expect.

The annual pre-finale reunion show is light on drama, heavy on filler - although there were some quality bloopers, previews and interviews along the way.

Sadly, without the two remaining men (Ben and JP) on the show OR the biggest villain (Bentley) it's ever seen, we're left wondering what might have been.

The coveted hometown dates gave the four remaining men a chance to woo Ashley Hebert on their turf, and boy, did they bring out the big guns this week.

In a romantic, whirlwind cross-country tour, she visited a family restaurant, made wine at a Sonoma vineyard, enjoyed a romantic picnic and went rollerskating.

The coveted hometown dates are just a week away, meaning Ashley Hebert had some tough decisions to make as she narrowed her field from six to four.

There is still no obvious frontrunner this season, but her decisions, in the end, were actually a bit surprising. Two of the spots were very much up for grabs.

The Bachelorette: Some Closure For Ashley

This season of The Bachelorette has certainly had its ups and downs.

There have been actual fist-fights for Ashley Hebert's attention, a date in which the guys were tasked with eviscerating her at a comedy roast ... and Bentley.

Oh, Bentley. Probably the greatest villain to ever appear on the show somehow ended up in Hong Kong on last night's episode, with Ashley seeking closure.

Fortunately, she saw through the act and sent him away, but the repercussions of his return and her feelings for him were felt long after he bid the city farewell.

The Bachelorette: Throwing Down in Chiang Mai

First, a roast of The Bachelorette that made her cry. Now, a group date in which the contestants get in the ring for actual kickboxing matches against one another.

Clearly, this is a season like no other. Three men left last night. One got a concussion. And a sleaze who departed two episodes ago is still in Ashley Hebert's mind.

So who got the boot and who emerged as front-runners Monday? Did Bentley return? Could Ames shake off the cobwebs after getting his bell rung and get a rose?

The Bachelorette: Tribulations in Thailand

Last week, The Bachelorette delivered an all-time episode. This week, in the aftermath of Bentley's mind games and exit, things couldn't help but feel slightly dull.

If you're a fan of the show, you eat up lines like the one quoted above. At the same time, there wasn't a whole lot to write home about in this week's installment.

The group date did involve the guys helping out orphans in Thailand, which was nice to see, and a couple of the men did step up to properly woo Ashley Hebert.

The Bachelorette cast lends a hand to kids orphaned by the tsunami.

Just the same, there was simply too much whining about Bentley on her part, and the notion that ABC is flying the dude back in the coming weeks is just off-putting.

It's The Bachelorette, though, and we love it in spite of these drawbacks. There were plenty of memorable moments even if the episode overall wasn't the greatest.

So who got the chop and who emerged as frontrunners Monday?
